Gotcha, but you are focusing so much on two calls that went against the Spurs, that you are ignoring all the other calls throughout the game that went against Miami. I wanted SA to win, but if every call tonight was correct, then Miami would have shot more free throws that SA, but that didn't happen. Now if you are saying that the timing in the game of those calls makes a difference then that's a different argument. Of course that would be like saying that a buzzer beating halftime shot isn't crucial to a game decided by one point. Also, if your issue is with officiating, then it has nothing to do with the 2006 "phantom calls". Poor officiating happens every year. An NBA ref was betting on games for Gods sake. Why are you only keying in on the heat (2006)?
Their servers are blown from the traffic. You can't even read the board unless you're a member. It's like the old days here before Clutch invested in better servers (contribute, folks!). What is hilarious to me is that if they didn't have images littering the place like fleas on a dirty dog, they could probably handle more traffic. Anyone who's a member, like DaDakota, know if the dudes that mod the place got rid of the avatars and boobs in the signatures? :-D-
Also, your initial post stated that the refs took away an opportunity for the spurs late in the game with questionable calls. But my initial post to you was that it didn't matter because the refs GAVE the spurs the opportunity to win in the first place with a full 45 of bad calls.
Because thats who was playing tonight. Don't think I've forgotten 2002 Lakers/Kings, 2005 Rockets/Mavs, 2007 Spurs/Suns and others. I've read Donaghy's book, even corresponded with him. I believe he was just the tip of the iceberg.
Ya, I'll agree with that all day. I just don't think that the refs decided the outcome today because San Antonio received majority of the calls all game. Also, any game in which Crawford is officiating and the spurs lose will be criticized by some. All I know for sure is that the rockets got screwed and Harden should've gotten more FT attempts in the first round!
Agreed. I was surprised how many times the Spurs went on these mini runs when they'd get a ticky tack call on the perimeter...and then the very next play Miami would drive in the paint, get a bunch of contact but no call. Rinse, repeat. I was genuinely surprised. You'd expect that to happen to the home team/Heat. To make matters even more puzzling, Miami would make mount a comeback but it would grind to a halt and the Spurs would up their lead to 10 points on these situations. If the refs were trying to help the Heat, they were doing a TERRIBLE job the first 46+ minutes.
Welp. Everyone on facebook, twitter, this thread, etc were getting ready to congratulate the Spurs, myself included. But, it just didn't happen. Nothing else to say. Miami will win Game 7. Duncan won't have much left in the tank. And Ginobili needs to take off his Heat jersey. He helped them out more than his own team. 8 turnovers...
Bosh with a bunch of crucial rebounds and blocks tonight. Kudos. Still glad he's not on a max contract for the Rockets.
I was glad when the Spurs led by 5 in the dying seconds, but that is basketball, it's never over till it's over, especially in a close game like that. The moment they fumbled on the rebound and let Lebron take that second chance at the 3 pointer, i just smiled because i knew the game would either go to OT or let the Spurs win on a single point.
The Spurs had it played perfectly. They had the perimeter well-defended and forced a miss. But 3-point caroms are unpredictable. C'est la vie.
I mean, just think for a moment what's going on in the mind of a young Kawhi Leonard. The pressure he faced at the line was tremendous. Literally one free throw away from sealing the deal. I know he's going to have trouble sleeping tonight. But the VET Manu Ginobili also split a pair. More blame should go on his miss compared to Leonard's just because of the fact that Leonard is a young player and Manu is a 3 time champ / vet.
Why because he led this POS team back to the finals WITHOUT a Scottie Pippen on his team. Believe me Lebron would KILL for a Scottie Pippen on his team. And now he has two count them TWO triple doubles in these finals and is leading this team to a game 7 against probably one of the greatest teams/coach ever to play the game even with Danny Green having the games of his life...yea I can't imagine why you would ever think such a thought.
Because MJ would never have committed 3 turnovers in the last 2 minutes of a big game. He would have buried shots on those possessions (especially the breakaway on Danny Green) and the game would never have gone into overtime. I never said Lebron wasn't amazing. I really wanted Lebron to surpass MJ. I actually hated MJ growing up. But I just don't see MJ finishing the game like that. So are you saying that you think Lebron is better than MJ?
