You can't win with some of these irrational haters. Yes, LeBron had a disappearing act in game 5. That was a downright dreadful and embarrassing display for what a large majority consider to be one of the best of all time. But today's 4th quarter was anything BUT a choke. Heading into the 4th down 10, Lebron finally stopped playing passively through others. In the 4th and OT, he made 8-14 shots en route to 18 points. Last 2 minutes? They wouldn't have even BEEN IN IT if he didn't chip away at the lead at the start of the 4th. That block on Duncan and fastbreak was a HUGE 4 point turn around and momentum changer for the Heat. It's like whatever Lebron does, some of you guys have a way of discrediting it. Let's say he made the last 3 shots in the final 2 minutes. Someone would bring up how it should have been blown out way before then, or the refs are favoring the Heat for whatever BS reason. Maybe even criticising the shots he MADE in attempt to downplay his achievement (gamewinning layup v Indy. Lelayup? Really?). In the end, Lebron can't EVER live up to whatever unrealistic expectation was placed upon him
what he did in the final minutes did almost lost them a championship 2 TO's, 2 missed threes at the end of the fourth yes he was pretty much God for the first 10 minutes of the fourth but he was absolute crap the first three quarters and in the crunch time of Fourth and OT.
Not just making that clutch 3 but he never gave up. You have to hand it to him. He pulled through big time for the Heat. That was what impressed me the most. He went out shooting and came up with the win. That is what makes his performance in the final quarter Kobe-esque and what will keep him winning championships if he keeps it up. Win or lose go out shooting.
I'm going to assume you meant "had the Spurs won", and of course people would be ripping him just like blatant haters like you are ripping him despite his great game. Why is it always Lebron's fault? Wade was terrible down the stretch. Does he get a full pass? How come people only focus on Lebron's mistakes down the stretch? Is his dominance that got them back in it just ignored? That's the thing...no matter what he does, the Lebron haters will be out in full force, clinging to any negative thing he did and focus on only that. It's not objective at all, but it is what it is. Once again....Skip Bayless Logic at it's finest.
But if he does anything else...if he passes yall would have still got on him for not being aggressive. Some would have called him a variety of names I don't want to repeat. Fact is when you are that dude on your team everyone wants to blame you. You see it with Harden. If he passes the ball in a clutch situation "WTF! HEROBALL! HARDEN SUXXXXXX!!!!11" If Harden takes the clutch shot or possession and turns it over or bricks the shot. "HEROBALL! PASS THE BALL HARDEN WTF!?!" If Harden makes the shot everyone is excited but then will completely forget about it the next game. Such is the life of Lebron...except when his team wins the game people STILL want to blame him somehow. Yeah he turned it over receiving a tough pass and trying to make a man move in the post...two missed threes? What should he have done, passed it then? It's a fact of the game that you are not going to make every three, that's why you don't want it coming down to needing a three.
What I meant was if Hardn passes the ball in that situation people call him scared, choker, etc etc...if he takes the shot and misses...HEROBALL! If he makes the shot it's expected, Yay we won...next game! The difference between Lebron and other Superstar players though is that Lebron actually gets blamed for when his team wins. No one is talking about Parker shooting the team out of it in OT...
Why is it when the so called "greatest player in the game" has games like game 5 or quarters like 1-3 tonight, or turnovers in key late game situations people continue to defend him as one of the greatest players in NBA history? Clutch gene so far in my eyes is missing. He gets another chance tomorrow to show he has one, but he should be slobbering all over Ray Allen for that opportunity.
My mistake, did mean had the Spurs won. His mistakes down the stretch would have pretty much erased his dominance had Allen not hit that 3. Why is it unfair to point that out? There are high expectations for him due to his talent level. That is the way it is. We are talking about a player who is supposed to be the next great one following Jordan, who made a name for himself through late game dominance and has never lost in the finals in 6 attempts.
Would've been an epic choke job and flashbacks of 2011 if Heat lost tonight. But Lebron redeemed himself in 4th + OT.
Obviously LeBron is the best player in the game. The guy you are quoting said so-called greatest as in greatest to ever play.
Well that didn't answer my question... But he will certainly end up there, if he's not already there. That much is almost assured.
"Greatest in the Game" I took as currently the greatest in the game. If he meant all time, then that's my mistake and I apologize.
To be clear. I think he's the best player in the game today. He's also at times the biggest disappointment in the game today.
