Not saying a console that plays physical media is going to last forever. But there's a difference between:

"it's possible my hardware is going to break eventually... but even then I can probably track down another console on eBay"
    vs
"authentication servers could be shut off, and then there is nothing I can do to play my games, even if I have working hardware."

By small minority, Im talking about the people that whip out their Sega Genesis and play a classic game...when games are re-released, you play them on the current console(s), so it really shouldnt matter if the XBone is around in 20 years...Im sure people will have access to a possible "classic" years and years from now.

    Flop #1?

    Virtual Boy
    GameCube

I think if Sega hadn't flopped with Saturn/32-bit Gensis at virtually the same time, they would have been more succesful with the Dreamcast. Dreamcast was such a solid system.

Ah yes, I guess maybe I wasn't clear. What I was trying to say is that two console flops in a row is what really gets dangerous, IMO. Virtual Boy and Gamecube were separated from each other by the relatively successful N64.

Even the 64 wasn't a big winner, despite being a good system with some great games. They looked in real trouble until the Wii started to take off.

Lucky for them the 3DS picked up, or they'd have 2 struggling systems out right now.

Will be interesting to see if better game titles (and eventual price cut) can help save the Wii U.

I just put in "Xbox 1" in Wikipedia, trying to read up on the original Xbox. Got forwarded to Xbox One.

I enjoy my soft modded Xbox. There are some good titles that are fun to play still.

Can you edit and spoiler that picture, please? It's so big, it's stretching the whole page out. I'm needing to scroll left and right to read everything, and I'm running 1920x1080!

Because it is the One device for your living room. Blu-Ray, DVR, Game system, phone, and smart box all wrapped into one.

It is actually because they wanted to piss RC Cola off whenever he wanted to do research on the original Xbox.

    Well played, Mr. Ballmer.

The best thing to do is to keep posting until the next page, this page is now corrupted and there is no saving it now.

    Get it?

Because Xbox 1 = original Xbox.

But Xbox One = Xbox 1.

    Yeah.

Where's the Rock when you need him?

I have tissues and lotion at my desk at work in case I get sick, but I know people get grossed out when they see it.
