i think if it's clear by the end of the 1st Q that crawford is going to make game 7 happen, then popovich should just bench his starters the rest of the way

That's not true. All the Heat need is for Ray Allen and Chalmers to actually, oh, watch Danny Green when that's their assignment. They have bad habits of ball watching, which gives Green the airspace he needs.

Also, at this point, the Spurs are deadlier from 3 than they are when parker or manu take floaters in the lane.

Actually, I think what the Heat needs from Allen and Chalmers is their shooting. When those guys shoots well, it opens up everything for LeBron and Co. to attack.

Worrying too much about Green's shooting is wrongheaded for Miami's strategy, IMO. Green is shooting above the normal rate. The law of average will catch up eventually. If he can sustain it through the whole series, then so be it.

I agree with that, just pointing out the culprits behind leaving Green wide open when the basket looks like an ocean to him.

If the Heat continue to leave Green open tonight, he will burn them again. Right now, the basket looks like an ocean to him. Somebody has to get a hand up in his face on all his shots, just like the Spurs do with Ray Allen.

They need Allen and Chalmers to space the floor with shooting, but their ball watching led to 87 spurs points by the end of the 3rd. That's unacceptable and will cause them to lose every time.
