For the most part i agree...CP is a coach-killer who's never won anything. I mean if he somehow becomes a Rocket I will cheer for him but I was excited about Howard. Paul? not so much...

    This.

"I have too many top 10 players" said no GM ever.

    Go ahead and ask them.

Ask them who got the better end of that trade.

Ask them what making the NBA Finals feels like.

Because he's the best PG in the league and is a top 5 player.

    Nuts!

Without Harden, they were not beating the Spurs to get to finals. Without their PG, they did not make it out of 2nd round.

You missed the point. I was responding to coffeelover665's suggestion that having too many top 10 players could ever be considered a bad thing.

You're right. Never thought about it like that. Lets not sign him.

If you can get Chris Paul you get him.

But he is NOT the best PG in the league. He is not the 3rd best player in the league. Chris Paul is nice but he is one of the most overrated players in the NBA.

First off, Tony Parker is the best PG in the league. Chris Paul has never even made it out of the 2nd round. Meanwhile Tony Parker is 1 game away from winning another ring. Did you guys see Parker's shot at the end of Game 1? Has Paul ever made such a huge shot?

You can talk about systems or coaches all you want, but in the end Parker wins rings, and Chris Paul gets bumped in the 1st round. And if you dont think team success and rings is a good way to measure players, then we have very different opinions on these matters.

"But Chris Paul makes the players around him better."

This is also false. Blake Griffin has not improved AT ALL since playing with Chris Paul (he doesn't even like playing with him). In some areas he's even regressed. DeAndre Jordan has not improved at all. You can throw out David West or Tyson Chandler, but I feel like those guys' best days were after Paul. Don't give me Drew Bledsoe, they don't usually even play at the same time and I think he's really overrated too (look at his numbers and team record when Paul went down last season).

So in short. Chris Paul is a Hall of Famer. He is an elite player. He is a significant upgrade over Jeremy Lin. But he is not the best PG in the league. And like the OP, I wonder how well a Harden/Paul back court would work.

I apologize for getting off topic, but I am so tired of everyone saying he's the best PG in the league when he isn't even the best PG in the west.

Does Chris Paul deserve a max contract? Maybe. But not signing him can open up tons of possibilities and flexibility for Rockets to improve roster and build that Championship team.

The new CBA is preventing a team like Big 3 and Miami is the only one who is not liking it for a reason. Can they sustain? The irony thing is that they might lose one more game tomorrow.

In one word, the big 3 will make up of most of salary and it is really impossible to improve the team. Just another way of thinking for you guys.

He hits huge shots all the time, that is why he is one of the clutchest players in the league.

How many playoff series has Tony Parker won without Tim Duncan?
