it's not hating, it's the underdog factor. Clearly the Heat is the better talented team but everybody loves the underdog to come through

You are an idiot. I don't wish Karl Malone or john Stockton physical harm. But I'm not supposed to root for them to lose. Players that yes were great great players but were dirty players. When Karl Malone was a deadbeat dad the same as my own dad.

Yeah OK move along little kid.

jgreen, with all due respect, hating is just as much a part of sports as fandom is. Sports are just the age-old theme of heroes vs villains marketed to guys. None of us know these people in real life but we construct these personas so that we can like or hate them to make things more interesting. This is why the Spurs, despite being fundamentally a really well-run basketball team (on and off the court), aren't popular-- they don't have the polarizing personalities to be interesting to most viewers.

I really hope the Spurs don't win tomorrow night. I can't stand to see a Texas team not named the Rockets keep winning championships. :(

Dude, our ship sailed ages ago re. the Spurs not winning championships, or more championships than us. That ship sailed in 2005.

Right now the hope should be that the Mavs don't win another championship and match our number of championships. So far we're good with that 2-1 ratio of NBA titles. Doesn't look like it'll get better for them anytime soon.

Yeah individually, early on I'd root against duncan just to preserve dream's legacy, but we're now beyond the point to matter to ring-only greatness judgers. Resume ship has sailed. Still have peak greatness.

No road team has ever won a game 7 since the format changed to 2-3-2 in 1985. It seems like now or never for the Spurs.

A new coach for the heat is all they need and they can win multiple championships.. Right now the Spurs are just better coached and they will win Game 6, it ends tonight for Miami.

I don't see Miami pulling out 2 wins in a row.

The Spurs aren't some rookie team. They have 4 championships under their belt and are seasoned as heck.

14-3. That's the Spurs record in the playoffs when they need to win a game on the road to clinch a series. Think about that.

Playing on the road doesn't phase the Spurs. Sure, Miami can win if Lebron, Wade and Bosh have great games. On the other hand, the Spurs can still win even if Parker, Duncan and Ginobli have sub-par games.

As for Danny Green, he had so many wide open looks it's ridiculous. Don't assume he won't keep making 3 point shots. The Spurs offense is a well oiled machine that generates practice drill shots for shooters like Green. It's not like Green is shooting those with a hand in his face... a good chunk of the time the defender isn't even remotely close to being able to close out.

Miami has the better players, Spurs have the better TEAM and superior coaching.

    I'll take the Spurs.

Of course the spurs are pros & will continue bring their best effort each game, but ultimately it's not really up to them. This series has & will continue to depend entirely on whether LeBron & Co. want to win or not. If the spurs win, it's because the heat let them win & I'm not a heat fan./jgreen.

Ouch. So I guess there is a chance this game is controlled by the refs and not the players?

Crawford needs to go bye bye.

Yet you call me a hater against Lebron? There's a Lebron is a choker thread on here, and a Lebron does steroids thread on here. Am I contributing to those threads, other than to defend him? No.

I do want his team to lose, that's true. But that's on them, with their arrogance and attitude. They don't get a free pass.

I don't care much for ignorant posters, though it doesn't quote rise to the level of "hate"! You certainly provide enough ignorance for the whole forum to become at least a little annoyed.

I was told by a miami insider that pat riley and the heat owner always want 7 games. They make a killing on tickets on heat playoff games and the south beach economy chips in. So this is why the heat dont always look motivated. They are playing in for 7. Makes sense.
