    So, the Celtics asked for Kevin McHale?

    Hmmm... not that it'll happen, but I wonder whether the Rockets could/would make a competing bid for Doc and Garnett. McHale plus Lin, DMo or some combo of assets for Doc and Garnett?

    He is a very good athlete, but he is not a real point guard. He has no idea about how to run the point or control the tempo of the game. He is closer to Darren Collison right now than Westbrook.

    I'd be all over T-Rob and McHale for unprotected picks if it were possible. Garnett isn't a long term solution, I'm not interested in bandaids. I'd also trade him straight up for rights to the 86 championship.

    I won't pretend to know the mindset of Jim Buss, but I just can't fathom the Lakers trading Dwight to the Clippers if Doc and KG go there. It would be like handing the Clippers a bazooka so they could turn it right back around and blow the Lakers' head off.

    Dwight would instantly become one of the most divisive sports figures in the history of LA.

    Are u kidding me, Celtics are seriously getting jack crack in this deal. Deandre Jordan is overrated, Butler is a Pierce 0.07 and you lose your coach. The first round picks are meh..

    Sounds like they are losing their coach any ways.

    I don't really like the deal for either side. (I guess we can wait to see the final details of the trade when it gets done - it looks like it will.)

    On paper, yes the Clippers are "getting better".

    Del Negro -> Rivers
    Jordan -> Garnett
    and maybe Butler -> Pierce

    but how much better are they really? Looks like a 2nd round team to me. Maybe I'll look like an idiot later but...

    Celtics get the joy of taking on DeAndre Jordan! Woo hoo!

    Boston has no leverage. They don't want to pay Doc 7 million a year, and KG is only sticking around for a championship contender.

    Is the trade even possible money wise if it was Deandre Jordan and Carbon Butler for Pierce/Garnett?

    Wouldn't they have to add Bledsoe/Crawford?

    Pierce is not apart of the deal. He's probably going to get bought out from Boston so he'd sign a vet minimum type deal to come back home to LA.

    That said, I dont understand why theyre trying to keep Chauncey. He's done

    Pierce isn't involved in the trade.

    Butler/Jordan for Garnett/Lee works
    Butler/Jordan for Garnett/Terry works
    Butler/Jordan for Garnett/Lee/Terry works

    This is very interesting from Houston's perspective. I think it increases the chances of Howard coming to us quite a bit, because it eliminates the Paul and Howard teaming up in Atlanta scenario which I had viewed as the second biggest threat outside him just resigning in LA. At the same time, Houston is going to be in a tough spot if he doesn't come.

    How so? Howard or not, we are one of the NBA's rising teams.

    You'll get to judge the value of Glenn Rivers' doctoring of the roster.

    I agree Deandre is very, very pedestrian. Don't see him as a long-term Celtic. However, when you examine this from Ainge's perspective keep in mind what he is trying to do here, retool on the fly and maintain contender status. If he is able to dump BOTH Terry and Lee on the Clips and get back an expiring deal..that's a win.

    Also, Deandre could potentially be flipped by himself for a sign and trade free agent like Josh Smith. Atlanta may be interested in Deandre to play the middle and letting Horford move to the 4 once they strike out here on Dwight and Paul. One deal begats another deal.

    Boston has Jared Sullinger, a natural center, but an undersized one, who is ready to play the pivot on offensive. While not athletic, Sullinger has a strong lower base and is actually quite good at post up defense. Pairing him with a shot blocking 4 like Smoove could be nasty. Then Boston has Pierce left to peddle to New Orleans for possibly Gordon. So, it's all about the the quick retooling for Boston.

    On the other hand....if the Clips actually fold their cards on this deal and take on Terry and Lee's deals......that' pretty much the end to Dwight....unless Lakers then decide that Blake/Bledsoe will do in a S&T. And I just don't see the Lakers setting up Dwight and Paul that way. Like many others keep posting about....taking on Blake and Bledsoe will cost LA something like $55 million next season and it takes away from their cap flexibility in 2014. Nash/Kobe/Pau/Blake.....is not a contender, not even close to being as good as what they just made the Clippers in to.

    If Clips can get Boston to settle on Deandre, Butler, Green for KG, Brandon Bass, Jason Terry, then Clips can simply play out the string with KG, Bass, Terry for 2 years...then go after Love. So, with that possibility in mind, do you think for one second LAL is going to serve up Dwight to them for Blake/Bledsoe??

    The good thing about this deal from the Rox perspective is if it goes down with Terry and Lee headed to the Clippers...it really ends talk of Dwight going to the Clippers.

    I think it's probably a stretch to say that Boston asked Houston for McHale. For all we know someone at Y! could have just asked someone with knowledge of Houston's thinking about the possibility of letting McHale get away. Not to mention the fact that there have not been any reports of Houston being involved in the discussions. Seems like a lot of the discussions have become public. I would imagine we would already know if the Rockets were involved.
