Howard and Asik almost have same stats when they both played all 82 games in first rookie season with team. Asik didnt play much in Chicago the first two seasons, so I considered Asik a rookie when he played first season in Houston, where he averaged 10.1ppg,11.7rpg,1.1bpg. He might surprise us and score 20ppg next season. Just give him time. I feel there's something left unexplored about Asik.

Would you trade improved player in Asik for injured Dwight?

I forgot to add that Howard had 12ppg, 10rpg, 1.7bpg in his rookie season. So Howard and Asik both had similar stats in their rookie season.

I previously felt the same way, and it may be accurate... but if Royce is getting paid what he is due on his contract, he should have no legal ground if he is waived. If he's treated as any other expiring contract, he shouldn't have any leg to stand on in court.

Howard was 19. Asik was 26. Tell me you're joking.

What would you guys accept for Chandler Parsons, in terms of players or draft picks?

    Here is a thought...
Lin for Lee - the C's use TE
-clears the room needed for Howard, brings in a Howard friend, better fit with Howard and Harden.
-C are blowing it up and could get a nice building block for R.Rondo while Lin holds the fort for a season or two.
-Lee start for us - Harden and Lee = solid back court

You're whole team, and nothing less.

From a monetary perspective, Lin has an awful contract for the next two years. He gets paid about 5 million next year, and 15 million next year.

Plus, because of the Michael Beasley-type situation, that will be an incredibly tough contract to move. The Rockets will have to attach first round picks and young prospects to get it done. Possibly even Chandler Parsons.

But it will be worth it if we acquire Chris Paul. If there is a chance to get Harden, Howard, and Paul on the same team, you do anything and everything to make it happen.

How many times do you think Asik will become an All-Star in the NBA before he retires?

Get ten (10) people here on CF to agree with you that Asik and Howard are or will be on the same level then i will agree with you. Or better yet, start a thread with a poll asking that question. "Who is better, Omer Asik or Dwight Howard" or "Dwight and Asik are not that far apart talent-wise, Yes or No". Let the majority speak because i really don't wanna argue with you about this. It's actually embarrassing that we're debating about it because it's not even close.

Remember that this is a Rockets forum, so the results you will see on your poll here will be the best voting results you can ever get for Asik than anywhere else. ;)

I agree with you, but I believe it's very faulty to use off the court stuff (all-star votes, star status, etc.) to compare their impact on the court.

But here's an interesting thought-- do you believe that we'd still have the #1 defense in half-court situations with Dwight on the floor instead of Asik?

He was using stats. I just used being selected to the All-Star team as a small sample size.

Alright so how do you explain these..

3× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2009–2011)
    7× NBA All-Star (2007–2013)
    5× NBA rebounding leader (2008–2010, 2012–2013)
    2× NBA blocks leader (2009–2010)
    5× All-NBA First Team (2008–2012)
    2× All-NBA Third Team (2007, 2013)
    4× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2009–2012)
    NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2008)
    NBA All-Rookie First Team (2005)

Dwight Howard is a game changer. He attracts double/triple teams, he can finish with the best of em. And yes, he can further improve our defense especially changing, intimidating, and swatting opponents layups, dunks, and shots in the paint. Look at those achievements he has garnered so far.

What has Asik accomplished in his career to be even mentioned on par Dwight's level?

Can Asik lead a team to the NBA finals or continually advance in the playoffs as the main guy like Howard was with Orlando? Would you build a team around Asik with him being your franchise player and expect to become playoff contenders?

I'm done arguing about this. It's embarrassing.
