Will donate for this very detailed response.

hmmm...cute. But the image is just only what is needed to run an app that is given to salesmen for demos. It has emailing turned off.

well, the paid version is extremely easy. See above comment. This linux image is bare bones to support just demos in the field.

This might be a winner. Will let you know.

Hey all, thanks for all the contributions. I will be trying them all and report back the easiest, etc. I have nothing else to do on my 13-hour flight, tomorrow, with no internets.

I'm sure all the suggestions probably work (except I won't be trying the "ftp that ho" I've already thrown that ho out the door), but possibly not on my very slimmed-down appliance. Honestly, although I'm product manager for this app, I swear I don't know what our vmware specialist and our linux admin do to create this appliance with orders to protect us if it gets in the wild. It's also weird they didn't know exactly when I asked them, except "maybe try scp." It's like I have to hack my own app appliance.

    damn them linux admins.

I'm still leaning towards having to do the raw cli stuff that calcium posted.

I had big hopes for this, but alas, it requires perl to install (no?) and that's a no no on this appliance.

I totally forgot about my offer (left the States to live in a hotel room in Germany for three weeks after posting this).

calcium,,,that totally worked. I owe you $100, or name a charity (as you requested).

    email me through the board.

Plus, for all the other standard VMWare suggestions (which didn't work in my case, but do now after I requested them), I just sent Clutch another $100 into the tip jar as thanks to y'all for helping.
