you actually just noted why Parsons is extremely unlikely to be traded, because trading him would free up almost no cap space at all, he makes less than a million. you get almost the same space freed up by letting James Anderson or Tim Olbhretch go.

He gives the Rockets tremendous advantage in the cap, odds are he won't be traded, because even matching money for him remains problematic, this would be ok if the Rockets were still under the cap by a lot, but after this off season I think that'll cease to be the case.

Nobody is untradable, but Parsons is so valuable to the Rockets and so hard to match trade wise that it is fairly hard to think of a realistic case where he would be traded.

Me either...I do understand why some people don't want to give up a guy like Chandler Parsons, but lets be honest with ourselves for a second; there are about 20 players that if they became available through trade Chandler Parsons would be gone, that does not show that he's untouchable. James Harden on the other hand there are only 2, LeBron and Durant.

And for those who are wondering who the Rockets would trade CP for in no particukar order:

    SF's
    Lebron
    Durant
    Melo
    Paul George
    Kawhi Leonard

    PG's
    CP3
    Russell Westbrook
    Rajon Rondo
    Steph Curry
    Derrick Rose
    Derron Williams
    Kyrie Irving

    PF's/C's
    Kevin Love
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    DeMarcus Cousins
    Chris Bosh
    Roy Hibbert
    Brook Lopez
    Marc Gasol
    Blake Griffin
    Zach Randolph

    The debatables:
Harrison Barnes, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, John Wall, and Klay Thompson....let the debating begin....

The rep? Don't think I did that. I also don't see where there was any name calling. Harden depends on the refs to call his penetration yet his scoring was just as if not more efficient than Rose's his MVP season. What does Harden's previous role as a 6th man have to do with anything? I have a feeling your infatuation with Rose goes as far as his ESPN highlights will allow.

I think there might be a little bit of a 6th man mentality in Harden's no defense approach, but that's just perception, a more complete offense system and a real solution at the PF would go a long way into accessing how much of that is him and how much of that is the team. FWIW, from a winshare perspective his defense was actually fairly solid.

He needs to improve overall for us to go places, that's true enough, the ref baiting things I'd hope he can scale back a little bit for various reasons (like health... or consistency... or that it's not fun looking at guy shooting free throw all game.)

I agree that Parsons is touchable if the prize is big enough. One possibility is the Clippers signing Paul and trading him to the Rockets for Asik, Lin, Parsons and perhaps a PF. Some of those pieces could then be used by Clippers in a trade with the Celtics or another team. I find it strange that no one mentions Parsons when discussing how the Rockets could land both Howard and Paul. Apart from Harden, Parsons (with his tiny contract) is obviously the most valuable piece the Rockets have. But you trade him in a heartbeat for a superstar like Paul.

Screw this!! I would never, ever, ever, include parsons in a sign and trade for Paul. I would trade the pieces I needed to get rid of for the room in separate trades for little to nothing in return before I gave up parsons. I would rather trade Asik, Lin, Jones, DMO, and smith for the 60th pick in the draft before I got rid of parsons in a sign and trade.

P.S. sign and trades are stupid if you can just trade away what your giving up in a sign and trade and get value then sign who you wanted to sign in the first place. I would never want to do a sign and trade unless someone wanted to give me something for my unrestricted free agent.

I'm not sure the Rockets can trade Lin without taking on some salary back. Would you do the sign and trade I mentioned if White was the included PF?

Nerlens hell no. Burke or Porter still nope. Drafts are a gamble, Parsons is a known quantity. He's good. Potential all-star good.

For players under 30, is Parsons in the top 20? If so, combined with his contract, and the fact that it's perfectly reasonable to assume he's going to keep improving (along with the other players on the list, admittedly), he's close to untouchable, especially because Les is probably paranoid about letting another young player blossom into a star after they land on another team.
