this is the only explanation that makes sense for getting Iguodala. And it's not competely illogical as Iguodala is a true stopper at the wing position that the Rockets currently lack

Lin/Harden/Iguodala/Parsons/Dwight ? That could be a very dangerous up tempo team

Can we please not start a thread for every freaking reporter claiming we could one of the teams going after a free agent. This is again bull****, Iggy wouldn't help us out at all, wouldn't sign a one year deal and is not a max player.

How would he not help? He'd immediately become the team's best defender (although not as much impact as Asik)
And would be a good fit next to Harden and in an up tempo offense. Obviously he's not a max player that's why he's not getting it

the only problem here is how would the Rockets go about acquiring him. Assuming the available cap space is used up on Dwight Howard

Parsons cant guard PFs... I'd rather we go after Smith than Iggy.

This is just Morey leveraging back.

No one will play point guard full time with Harden on the court. And Parsons likes to handle the ball as well.

Don't know how it would work with both Asik and Howard on the court though.

    Lin-Harden-Iggy-Parsons-Howard

Is that a better starting 5 then what Dwight had in Orlando?

On the flip side, how many PFs do you think could guard him...?

    Definitely better. Lin=Lee, Harden>Nelson, Iggy>Turkoglu, Parsons=Lewis

plan B if we don't land Dwight. Iggy at 3, Parsons at 4, spread the floor and increase defense. This would be a classic move for Morey to sell his small ball theory.

Give Iggy the max and move Harden back to the bench. Less pressure and more suitable for Harden to be the 6th man.

On that note, if we can sign Dwight as well, by flipping Asik....

Andre Iguodala is a quality player and could add some value to the Rockets, but at his age, he is about to sign his last long-term contract and a player of his type(long, plus, shutdown defender, still not a good shooter, average offensive game based mainly on athleticism and transition hoops) is just not a good pickup for the Rockets at this point. We already have a plus defender on the wing in Parsons who is under contract for about 1/20 the price. Iggy is good at what he does but is far from a player who will put us over the top. I would rather keep Parsons and go for much more pressing needs. IE, Star PF, Franchise Center, Franchise PG, free agent stars to help complete this young, up andcoming team that made the playoffs when most had the Rockets winning28-30 games this past season. Stay the course, and don't waste money on players like Iggy who will NEVER get us where we want to go.

I really want to try asik and howard. You guys dont know what having two guys who rebound like crazy will do for the rockets. Imagine:

Harden, top of the key jumper, miss.
Asik rebound (passes back out to lin)
    Lin three, miss
Dwight tip in dunk, 2 points and foul

A true rebounder understands you cant box out your man and grab every rebound (they dont come to your side). Having two seven footers fighting for every rebound would be something to watch.

So forget paul. If we can somehow end up with this line up:

    Harden/beverly
    Iggy
    Parsons
    Howard
    Asik

    Would be amazing.

And then on defense Asik or Howard is stretched out to the perimeter mismatched and unable to grab rebounds. It's not gonna work..
