Houston's pitch of him opting out and taking less, etc. is if it is only him coming. Don't forget our lack of state income taxes that will affect almost half his games.

If Dwight is taking a paycut, it is to play w/ CP3. That is the tradeoff he is making, and that is the new 'pitch'. Shave a million off each, play together w/ Harden and Parsons and some semblance of a young bench. That is a pretty easy selling point if they are serious about winning at all.

Know how else stars make money? Endorsements. It is often times, for superstars, a lot more money than their contracts are worth. Know what helps you get more endorsements? Winning.

Losing a million now and whatever the % increases and future blah blah could be vs. much greater chance of winning a ring (I am sure they value that more than a few million) AND more endorsement money...I can see them easily agreeing to it. Same reason LBJ, Wade and Bosh did.

I don't think you are pointing out anything here that everyone is already aware of. Lebron are already set the precedent of sacrificing money to win championships.

But just think about the endorsement money they stand to make if they are able to win championships together. Cliff Paul could finally quit selling insurance and live off of his bro.

    This is TERRIBLE news IMO...

    1. Paul loves living in LA according to multiple sources.
    2. Dwight doesn't mind LA and pretty much has is heart set on living on the East or West coast.
    3. It really seems like to me that Dwight could care less about Houston's roster and "winning" and is more interested in lifestyle. This kid is not thinking about winning titles but is more interested in hanging in LA.
    4. Go reread CyberX's inside information that he is not too excited about coming to Houston in the first place and his agent's motives.

Add it all up and .....

Read the tea leaves and it seems Houston is just a pawn to get Dwight to the Clippers or New Jersey (nearly impossible). If he can't get his way, Dwight will resign with the Lakers, wait a year and get a big free agent to join him; or move to the Clippers (if the Clips put Blake on the table).

In the end, Houston is being used as leverage. "Hopeful signals" story leaked to pressure Lakers to play ball with Dwight's real preferred destination (the Clips). Add in a new coach like Doc Rivers, Karl, or Shaw and Dwight will be all over that. Whether the Lakers actually assist the Clips in this transaction is yet to be seen but hard to say no to Blake Griffin. If his Clippers dream doesn't happen, he will resign with the Lakers.

CP3 to Houston is not likely. Time to put down the pipe, and get real. Welcome Josh Smith or Milsap or some other "meh" player to the mix this off-season.

I hope I am wrong but my gut says otherwise.

You'll have to quote me where cyberx said the bolded. I read the same statements and that was not what I got out of it lol. Watching Parsons' recent interview about Dwight also left me feeling like Dwight's very interested in coming to HTown.

Is it possible that Dwight is using the Houston threat, and possibly CP3 is as well (behind the scenes), to get both the Lakers and Clips to agree to trade Griffin and Bledsoe for Dwight?

#1 Getting Paul and Dwight was always unlikely for ANYONE and that includes the Rockets. Morey has even commented on that.

#2 Where do you get that Dwight has his heart set on living on the east or west coast? The Rockets and Mavericks are both always listed in the 3-4 teams Howard is interested in.

#3 Where do you get that Howard is not interested in the Rockets roster? All the reports are the exact opposite. Rather, Howard is thinking about coming to Houston because of Harden, Asik and McHale.

#4 I don't remember CyberX saying anything of the sort.

It's called being a troll. Ignore him, just like the other two in this thread.

The Lakers are not doing business with the Clippers, come on. And Howard prefers Houston to the Lakers or we wouldn't even have these reports. My gut says Howard plays in Houston next year, regardless of CP3's landing spot.

You want a good laugh? Go check out Clippers topbuzz where the people there are convinced that they can get Dwight for a package of...... Caron Butler and DeAndre Jordan. Lmao.

Absolutely nothing in his post could constitute him being a troll.
He's simply being real here. If someone has a more negative point of view of the situation, it makes them a troll? Really?
The interest in the Clippers is probably very real. I hate to burst your bubble, but if CP3 can get in Howard's head about the Clips, he'll force his way there. Stars want the biggest markets.
Houston is not an LA. Just give up the inferiority complex.
We all want Dwight and CP3, but it's probably not happening.

I like how the Laker fan's lineup completely ignores cba rules. Like they can sign CP3 first w/ cap space while retaining the rights to re-sign Dwight and go over the cap lol.

Yea they aren't exactly what I would call even semi-smart. Their own moderator is having to put the CBA rules in huge bold letters to get them to understand and it still isn't working LOL

Dwight and his team have made it extremely clear that it's about winning. He and everyone around him has said it time and time again. To insinuate that Howard will make a decision based on "lifestyle" is trolling, yes. Especially when you add some bull**** about "heart set on the East or West coast" out of nowhere.

Okay, I'll take this, but I still believe CP3 can convince Dwight. That's what I'm worried about.

Happy to throw two team members under the bus on a rumour that Paul has expressed interest in joining up with Dwight on an undisclosed team.
