Again, overrating of Chandler Parsons on others on here is borderline disgusting. He's a very solid role player w/ hot & cold offensive games & average defense. If the Rox ended up w/ Iggy on a reasonable contract then thats a clear upgrade. I would hope we'd atleast try to snag him

    You really are stupid!

#1 I am not even sure Iggy is a better player right now. Having said that you want the Rockets to blow all their capspace to sign a SF when they already have one that is arguably as good and improving? You apparently have no concept of the salary cap and asset management.

He's not worth the money he is gonna get, he's just a role player at this point.

If you trade Parsons, who would keep Lin warm on cold, lonely nights?

Iggy just isn't a big enough upgrade over Chandler when you factor in that he is going to cost us about 15x as much money.

You're not even pretending to understand that no one is arguing against that signing based on Parsons being the better player, but rather on it being a moronic f--king waste of valuable cap space that we can't afford (seeing as a "reasonable" contract for Iggy starts in the 10 mil range).

We are all dumber in this thread for having attempted to converse with you.

Of course he's not the better overall player, BUT he is the better fit with this team (we need a SF who can knock down threes) AND he is on a 10x better contract.

Parsons isn't consistently good enough to be a starter.

I'm not even going to try to argue with people hating on Parsons.

No one is hating on Parsons. Iggy is just a better overall play and would have a bigger impact on the floor compared to Parsons. That's just a fact. Iggy's rebounding and individual defense make are the two things that the team needs and doesn't have. I'm not a huge fan of his but his impact cannot be denied.

Morey said he wanted to being in a "top wing defender" a few times to address the defense. Iggy may eventually cost just as much ask Parsons will because Parsons will be a free agent in 2015 and he will be an Unrestrictedfre agent. If Morey gets Iguodala for less than $10 million a year then it will be a bargain because I suspect Parsons will get more than that in 2 years.

Adding Iggy to the Rockets would mean giving him the role of no.2 playmaker on this team.

It isn't that simple though REEKO.
For one, Parsons will be our own free agent and we can go over the cap to resign him. That is to say we can use our cap space, and then down the line resign Parsons. Also, at this point I am not sure Iggy is a better player, his game is declining and Parsons is getting better.... so, by the time we are reaching our peak 2 years from now, we may have an Iggy that has seriously declined.

If we were talking about a 25 year old Iggy with similar salary situations then I would be all for it, but not under the current circumstances.

My guess is the Rockets go for their defensive wing stopper in the draft (Craft) or they use MLE money to go after a player similar to Tony Allen that can get all the back up minutes at the 2-3.

The draft is a crapshoot and relying on those guys to develop in 2-3 years time could be a waste of Harden's prime. The Rockets have to be conservative on predicting the duration of Harden's peak years. They've got to be wary of the big 3-0 for wing players.

Adding an Iggy or the very underrated Gordon Hayward to play SG fixes the Rockets' leaky backcourt problem. Big wings who can shutdown PGs. Oh, yeah!

Why are people comparing Iggy to Parsons anyway? I wonder if people actually watch the Rockets or even read box scores. We basically play 4 perimeter guys and one inside player down the stretch anyway.

If anything, Iggy signing will take away minutes from DMo and TRob. Parsons will get his overworked minutes regardless.

I do see the possibility of a small lineup where Parsons plays 4 but that would mean we end up with a player like Howard that defends the rim so well that Playing small at 4 would be a non issue.

    Lin
    Harden
    Iggy
    Parsons
    Howard

That would be pretty balanced and the dunks would rival lob city lol.

The Rockets already do this anyway. Through 3/21, from 82games, Delfino plays 63% of clutch minutes and 85% for Parsons. Basically half the games we've ended with both on the floor. And that number likely rises with recent games.

It's a much different NBA today than it is in the old days. Heck, even in the old days, Rudy T decided to screw it with positions, and put Ellie(SG) and Horry(SF) at forward positions for incredible effects in the 95 playoffs.

    Iguodala plans to opt out

Denver Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract and enter free agency, Yahoo! Sports has learned.

    ....

After superstars Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, Iguodala will be a target for several teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Hornets, league sources said.
