Let's see. He's an elite perimeter defender, an excellent post defender, a full court press demon, an excellent shot blocker either on his man or from the backside, is an excellent rebounder, can guard all positions, and regularly draws the toughest cover when necessary. But yeah other than that - totally overrated. Not on the level of a Kobe Bryant. I mean we talking Kobe!
It definitely means he's better than Bryant, who, with 38 consecutive all-defensive team awards by lazy writers, is the epitome of overrated. The only thing he's ever done on defense that LeBron hasn't is be acquitted on a rape charge by a white woman.
On a side note, anyone feel that battier is WAYYY overrated right now? This guy is sound defensively on perimeter players, but he flops on so many rebounding opportunities. If I had a reputation as a tough defender I would never flop. Its really annoying to see one of my favorite players when he was a rocket to drop down to this level.
With the responsibility he has on offense I don't see how anyone could call his defense overrated considering he still commits to that side of the ball.
Well, if the question is whether LeBron is a good defender, saying he's better than Kobe doesn't really add any info since Kobe has been one of the worst defenders in the NBA ever since the first threepeat ended. But yes, LeBron is an amazing defender and not overrated in the least. His timing for steals and blocks is fantastic and completely sets the tone of Miami's defense-to-offense transition game.
