A lot ! 3 steps on almost every drive - as an old referee (emphasis on old) it is aggravating to watch. DD
it's the NBA. the only travel call i ever see is when a player takes off before putting the ball on the floor during a triple threat/catch. every spin move in the NBA is a travel as well.
That's never called in the NBA. I don't care what the rules say, you're essentially allowed three steps without dribbling.
Rule of thumb. Make the three step look smooth and purposeful and it won't be called. Hesitate or look awkward on a two-step and it will be called. If every travel was called, the Rockets would be screwed. Harden does it every play.
What's wrong with you? You think just because your fat butt refereed some childrens basketball game that you know what a travel is? That Wade dunk was nothing close to a travel.
It is a gather step, you get a step as you are gathering the ball which counts as a step during your dribble, then you get two without the dribble. It happens every game by just about every player in the NBA and the college level.
Amateurs gather the ball early, before their lead foot plants (making it the pivot foot). Pros gather the ball late, right after the lead foot plants, making the next step the "First Step" of two. Pros have learned how to maximize the two-step rule. It is not a travel.
I apologize DD, but it's just annoying. The LeBron play was questionable but the Wade dunk was nowhere close to a travel, not even remotely close. DD is a Rockets fan who hangs out on a spurs board and creates threads hating on the heat. Just annoying thats all.
