So, I have applied to many places and still have yet to hear back. I am certain the biggest thing holding me back is a MS degree (a ceremonial certificate, I believe); next would be industry experience and software experience. I could learn the software but it is expensive; and with industry experience I guess I just have to stick with it to show I am not sick of it. How about yourselves, any issues?
I don't have an 'in'. That is, I don't know somebody who could refer me for the positition. On top of that, I lack working experience in the systems they use, and my theoretical knowledge on the subject doesn't come from a school like MIT, or Harvard, so my resume isn't impressive enough to stand out.
I picked "OTHER." Missing is "MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE"... or... just... "knowing what to say to peons." So... murder weapons?
We peons like to hear: "Go ahead and take off early today." "Don't worry about a set schedule." "Tomorrow we're having an ice cream social." "Go ahead and charge your cell phone use to the corporate card, since your cell number is listed in the directory." These are all things I hear at my current employer that make me happy. Things we don't like: "Let's have a meeting tomorrow morning to discuss your work over the past few months." "You got a virus from a website about the NBA Draft? Why are you going to that site when you're supposed to be working?" "Team meetings will no longer take place at Dave and Buster's." "Exactly how long are you taking for lunches?"
It's not that I can't have my dream job (Personal trainer, Motorcycle mechanic).. it's just that they don't pay enough.
The fact that I'm only halfway completed with my masters degree and I'm not eligible to take the CPA exam yet is preventing me from pretty much getting a job.
lmao, spot on  I'm a 23 y/o HR intern wanting to be in management. This is my first job, so I only have about a year's worth of experience. I've applied to get my MBA with an HR focus, and i am waiting to hear back. Everything is lined up pretty well considering I get into the MBA program...
