We'll be waiving the mle ..... (I just can't see the lakers letting us keep the mle by giving us a matching s&t)

And if you want CP3, you need to clear space, Sterling won't approve a s&t (Just assume Sterling is the biggest ******* in the nba, and then welcome to reality).

Sterling will be retired by the time the trade goes down. .....and I almost thought you worked in the league office or something....

I'm not positive I'd be happy if we went this route, but the Lakers would be crazy not to do a sign and trade with the Rocks if they know Howard's leaving. What better way to quicken a rebuild?

Virtually no cap in 2014? Why hamper it w/ salary this yr? I think they'd be just as okay with practically taking nothing back for Howard and let him walk, if they wanted to play hard ball.

A $20.5 million TPE gives them flexibility to add someone later on in the season, not to mention take salary off somebody else in exchange for some draft picks. If Dwight goes, LAL will want to do a TPE to get anything.

In fact....the more I think about it it makes sense to me that Mitch has already told Morey he'll take TRob, Royce, and probably Aaron and possibly Delfino for Dwight. The more I think about it....that's what makes the most sense in regards to Morey putting TRob on the auction block. He knows he's got the ability to trade those guys to Mitch and get Dwight. So he needs to find another deal that increases value.

Sterling is an owner.... (who just happens to be taking all the clippers coaching candidates on dates atm), hence why I mention him in regards to CP3, since being the owner of the clippers means, yeah he'd need to approve a s&t.

Although I can understand "biggest ******* in the nba" leading to confusion with Stern

now that JKidd is the Nets head coach, can the Nets be still another rival in signing DH if they want to go to a SnT route?

Yes. Now that Kidd is the coach the CBA issues that hampered them before no longer apply.

An excerpt from an interview with Magic Johnson:

“With Dwight Howard, (Houston) would take the next step as being one of the elite teams — I would say one of the best four or five teams in the league — and definitely would give themselves a chance to win a championship,” Johnson said, according to David Barron of Ultimate Rockets.

Well the Nets have about $86.4m in guaranteed salaries for 2013/14.

The tax apron will be about $74m and the nets will have to get under that to receive a S&T player.

So if the Nets can get down to $54m by dumping $32.4m in salaries they can receive Dwight in a S&T.

    Nets major salaries:

    Joe Johnson 21.5
    Deron Williams 19.8
    Brook Lopez 15.7
    Kris Humphries 12.0
    Gerald Wallace 10.2

Very hard for the Nets to dump 32.4m and doubtful they would want to for Dwight.

If Earvin "Magic" Johnson is saying you can win a title with Houston, Dwight definitely has to realize we are the best option.

One of my biggest fears is Timmy and Manu retiring on top, and the Spurs reload with Dwight/Parker/Leonard/Splitter and Popp sticking around.

Yeah, thought about that many times.

    Asik ~ Splitter
    Parsons ~ Kawhi
    Harden ~ Parker

I still come back to the fact that Harden is so young. That's the anchor that Dwight can look at for the balance of his career (as long as Harden stays healthy of course). In SA's case, in just a few years they gotta reload Parker's spot. Dwight can't look at that situation and see long-term what they are going to do there. Same problem Dallas has with Dirk. They're locked down. Dwight knows him and Dirk can't go as far next season as him and the Rockets bunch. Then after that Dirk takes a pay cut and ???, Dallas has to recruit somebody else. I think Houston has the advantage in both cases because of Harden's youth.

The lakers won't go the allow a s&t route, doing so simply invites several other teams into the competition.

Also San Antonio? they don't really do free agency, and their "no luxury tax ever" ideology wouldn't suit well with Dwight knowing he'd be basically forced to take a large pay cut next time around.

However the spurs have no issues finding good players even drafting low. They have drafted guys like Hill, Leonard, Parker, Manu, Spitter, Scola, etc. Plus they turn guys like Green and Neal from nobodies to good role players.

If it were a choice between Houston and San Antonio, I think based on history you would have to pick the spurs.
