I'm pretty I'd never use that feature ever. Using a remote control is lazy enough for me.

Jay, did you just ignore my post and the quoted it on your reply? I'm not talking about Kinect man... Or Skype... I'm talking about how Microsoft is going to continue improving the Xbox over time.... Because they are a software company that will own Sony any day of the week. You don't need Kinect or Skype fine... But what else will Microsoft bring to the Xbox... You and I as well know that they wont stop and leave the Xbox One where it is now. In 2 years it will be a completely different console.... Why miss out on that? Snap out of it Jay.... Don't give in to the darkside. Its full of deception.

What did I say confirmed me as a fanboy? You do know I have all the Microsoft systems right? And all the Halo games?

You just don't like what I said, tried to claim I was putting my opinion over others...although it was your failure in comprehension to see that all I did was state how I felt about it.

No, because Sony will also update their system too? You really think the PS4 launch system will be the same exact system 5 years from now? They all will update, adjust...

So that seems like a moot point.

Also as i've said over and over again if a game developer can make a great game with Kinect and prove that it is the future to making some truly great games then sure! Xbox One will likely win this thing because it'll do what PS4 can't.

Buuuut. I bought a Wii on very similar thoughts and that was terrible purchase. At first I thought "Hey, people at least have fun coming over and playing these little sport games." once I realized that this was a waste of money...

Then guests grew tired of that too, and now it collects dust in some box somewhere probably next to my old gamecube or dreamcast. I'm not buying a system on some future potential, something I may have to worry about 3 years from now.

Again, Kinect could be the differing factor but until it is I'm not going to invest in it. I'm not buying either system on launch day any ways, only until Destiny comes out or MGS5 because those are the two games I really want to play. If Kinect proves it is worth the extra $100 then maybe I'd consider it.

Actually...yeah I think I see what you did. Looks like you agreed with my post that it was all opinions any ways but was responding to that guy.

Since Salvy knows so much about the One, answer this question for me.

If i'm busy with school or work and haven't turn on my Xbox for over 24 hrs, what happens?

Will it just turn on automatically and connects to the network or it will turn into a paper weight?

    Lead me to a source!
    I want facts!

I am by no means a fan of Microsoft's DRM policy or the online check ins, but seeing as how I am always connected to the internet anyway as well as mostly buying new games, these things won't be affecting me. I was all aboard the MS hate train Monday, but now that I've had the opportunity to step back and evaluate both consoles with a cool head, I've come to favor the Xbox. Maybe it's my inability to let go of Halo or the Xbox controller, but still. All the things it brings to the table interest me, and I love that I'll be able to seamlessly interact with both my TV and my console. That, and the potential it brings with it's emphasis on the cloud as well as the games, has won me over.

Considering how negative the backlash was against the online check ins as well as the DRM, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make some change to these policies moving forward. I will still be buying a PS4, can't miss out on the Naughty Dog games and other awesome exclusives. Still, the X1 will be my main console. I hope that both consoles sell well, as competition between MS and Sony will only make things better for the us, the consumer. It makes me laugh how fanboys seem forget this.

its really starting to feel like the xbox hate is based solely on principal... because in reality, nothing has changed.. people just feel the need to rebel.. people are acting like they are taking stuff away from them. theyre only eliminating dated ideas and soon to be obsolete media. DD will eventually make game sharing and resell a moot point. theyre allowing you to access your entire game library from anywhere without having to have a disc in your possession. this is truly a next-gen system, they didnt play it safe like sony and theyre getting chastised for it..

by making kinect & game installation mandatory its making sure that every one in their network is on the same playing field. so there will be no compatibility issues with the new ideas they are trying to implement, present and future.

Most people are not willing to sacrifice ownership for convenience. Your statement about nothing has changed is nonsensical. The issue of ownership is a serious matter.

Also Xbox One does not work unless Kinect is connected. Sounds sketchy... And then you have 24 hour online check-ins that have serious consequences if you do not oblige.

WTF? I just realized that Xbox One will be regionally locked. It's only going to be available in 25 countries around the world. It's also impossible to buy the console in US and play it in an unsupported region because you need to go online once every 24 hours and they check your IP address and lock the console if you're outside that region.

Croatia is not supported, so I guess I don't have a choice. PS4 it is.

    Sorry for the double post.

I don't think they lock the console if you don't log in every 24 hours. You can store it an indefinite amount of time, and once you connect it to the Internet again, it'll start working.

You can probably use a VPN service to get around that.

Point out the bias if it is evident (maybe I'll improve). And maybe do it for others too, although if "Netflix shouldn't be behind a paywall" is a biased opinion, you'll be doing that all day everyday I admit.

Just comes across as immature IMO. Can't say it helps my support of Star Citizen either.

All those things you listed are software driven primarily (except for having a HDMI input, but you can have an adapter/special PS4 for that). PS3 already does a lot of it, but it just isn't like that out of the box.

I won't quote more of your posts, but you say things like Sony has to wait until PS5 to do a lot of this. That's not really true. They might have to wait until then to bundle it all together, but they can support most of these same features with PS4 (or even PS3). I agree it isn't the ideal scenario, especially if those features take off (Xbone would be the better experience), but if Sony wants to jump on the bandwagon, it wouldn't be difficult to do.

How long it will take, how good it will be, whether it will be worth the cost, etc., is another story.

As for the exclusive talk, I've said this before, but I just call them a draw at this point. Everyone keeps quoting different lists, and I'm not sure where some people are getting their numbers ("platform Y has triple the exclusives!"). I just use the overall game counts:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PS4_games
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_One_games
Prefer those over lists that might arbitrarily decide The Witness isn't an exclusive, but Minecraft is (or somehow think Capcom would make Deep Down exclusive to PS4). Execs from both have listed a similar number of exclusives through the first year.

And I'll just continue to ignore Salvy.

    Sorry ItsMyFault. :(

If it doesn't connect once within 24 hours you will not be able to play any offline games.. at all. I'll say it again, it WILL NOT let you play offline video games.. at least until you 'check in' and connect to the internet, then you can disconnect and are allowed to play offline games for 24 hours before being forced to 'check in' again.

How many times has it happened to you that you've turned on a video game at home and not had access to the internet? And in the case the power has gone out for over 24 hours...guess what? Your tv won't work either. And in the case you're busy with work for two weeks and can't play...nothing happens, you just resume playing when you're free to game.

The "always having to be connected to the internet" thing is so overblown.

I've had that happen a few times, though I'm from a rural area. Power, water, etc., can all work fine, but the ISPs in the area suck. 24+ hours without internet isn't too unusual (and the speeds barely meet Xbone's minimum requirement too). I've had it happen once or twice in Austin, though it was due to bad router/modem IIRC (thanks Time Warner!).

It is a relatively rare thing in bigger regions, especially in the US. For most, it probably won't ever be a problem (probably more likely that XBL will go down). But it also shouldn't be a problem in the first place (i.e., why restrict gamers from playing offline?).

I can only speak for me, but yeah it's really a non-issue for me. Whenever I get on my Xbox, I usually have my internet connected and on. I can understand people's arguments or issues with the always connected to the internet thing though if they don't get online very often, don't have a reliable internet connection, or don't have internet at all.
