Looks like my make believe world has the deficit continuing to shrink. The CBO cut their deficit projection by $200 billion today to $642 billion or 4% of GDP. I also saw the make believe David Tepper was still very bullish too. He's a living in a fantasy world too.
Finally made the jump and opened a brokerage account. Any tips on where to start? What to read? What looks like a promising buy? NUGT any good? I've been tracking it for a few weeks. Jumped up from 8.20 to about 9.60 today. Also, what about these solar energy stocks, a bunch had some strong increases today. Do you guys think it'll continue?
I use BDI Top 50. You have to pay for subscription, but I fact someone else does research on fundamentals. You just have to pick your poison. http://www.investors.com/products/default.aspx?id=aei-n
The miners have been recently getting killed due to lower demand in Asia mainly from China. These lows have not been seen since the crash a couple years back. Any insight on a company like VALE for the long term investor? Dividend is high 6% yield (ADR) and they have always paid on time. Any thoughts?
The dividend has varied wildly in the past. It was just cut from 58.9 cents to 43.7 cents. I wouldn't consider this stock solely for the dividend. I have no real advice on buying or selling the stock other than it should be noted the Brazilian stock market is very weak and they are dealing with inflation headwinds in the major cities down there.
I'll be blunt. It's a horrible idea for a long term play and you will lose a lot of money if you invest in 3x levered ETFs for long term plays due to how they are calculated. IMO these levered ETFs should be banned by the SEC. On top of that silver's chart is completely broken. I wouldn't even try to buy it until it hit 15, but 10 is probably a better place to buy silver. At least wait for it to consolidate and find a bottom. Be very patient.
Hope so! I'm looking to buy some closed end funds and preferred stocks that are being thrown out the window right now. I might look to buy some REITs as well since they are being dumped pretty hard too.
Pretty big bounce in the market today. Supposedly Bernanke is going to make statements about how rates aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Can someone tell me how after hours works? Leap right now is up 118% or something. Don't understand ...
AT&T buying them out isn't manipulation. You will probably be better served if you just get the idea of manipulation out of your head.
