Did you actually play Halo 4? I admit I was skeptical myself, but the game was every bit as good, if not better, than the rest of the series, at least regarding the campaign. And while I don't really care about Kinect, Im willing to give it a chance and my son sure as hell would enjoy it. If they can integrate it in a meaningful way I could be on board. Just think it's a little presumptuous to say which system will be better for gamers, especially when there are many types of gamers.
True. MS is being pretty stubborn and doing/saying the wrong things, but in the end, these are all software/business decisions. They can all easily change, if MS wants them too. Not sure if they will though (it didn't really make sense to charge for Netflix on 360 either, even if the focus wasn't as much on multimedia...you don't cut into potential profits just for the hell of it). I'm still kind of curious to know what is Microsoft's target audience here. IMO, they seem to be trying to hit multiple groups (hardcore gamers, casual/non-gamers, families, etc.), but the way things are designed, it could end up being a jack-of-all-trades but master of none (i.e., only people who fit EACH of those categories are interested, while the rest might just pick dedicated devices that would suit their needs). It is fine if they want to broaden their potential userbase, but you probably don't want to piss of your dedicated gaming fanbase (especially when history has shown you can sell 100M+ systems by appealing to only gamers). Ideally, you find a way to keep them and go after the other market, not substitute one for the other.
Uh - no - I am a PC game developer who is 100% crowd funded. RC is a great poster, but his bias is fairly evident - I guess lines are seriously drawn here now. I am no XBone supporter, nor PS4, I hope they both succeed - or fail, more PC gamers is good for me. And the truth is that both are trying to capture the living room thus the netflix etc.....but MS is being much more aggressive about it. DD
That's pretty shortsighted because not every one who buys console has money, or even has a job. In fact a very significant portion of gamers are under 18, many of whom under 15 and can't even legally work. $100 is HUGE to them or their parents who may look at two consoles, not know a thing about the DRM or anything like that but choose to purchase the PS4 simply because it's cheaper. But continue calling out 13 year olds for being poor. I'm sure it makes you feel better.
Meh some of us just value our money. $100 less for a system I prefer...means $100 I could spend buying another controller, game, or whatever with that system. PS4 is cheaper and if that is what you were leaning towards buying that $100 is huge. Xbox One being more means they have to impress a bit more and prove their system is worth that much more.
I have preordered an xbox one over ps4 based on potential. I like the idea of games in the cloud where i can share libraries with others. Split the cost of a single player game and both be able to play it no matter our geographic location. I like the thougt of eventually being able to rent games digitally. Theres a reason microsoft has 300,000 servers. My lersonal favorite franchises are on xbox. Still might buy a ps4....but ill wait for price drop.
I do wish they both went straight Digital Downloads - but folks want to buy that package for Christmas - I suspect it will be that way in a year or two - outside of the major releases. And all this used market will dry up naturally anyway. DD
it's eventually gonna happen. probably slowly transition in this generation and all this talk about used games, drm etc. will be null.
LMAO!!! Its true thou... Xbox One is not for poor people.... Neither is PS4.... The reason Xbox wants to go cloud and digital is not to screw "gamers" over... Its to actually improve gaming experiences.... Load times, bigger worlds, graphics would all take advantage of it. But that's fine PS fans.... Yall can continue buying game cd's while One owners get to enjoy an ever changing and growing universe with endless possibilities.. PS4 is pretty much a 360 with better graphics.... Xbox One is pretty much the only next gen console. I love it when PS fan boys go ahead say PS4 can now do the same thing 360 does..... That's not good..... That console is almost a decade late to the party... Sooner or later thou the truth will come out.... And I doubt Xbox is going to be on the losing side. Its the only console that is bringing NEW things to the table but "ps gamers" don't want new... They want old, They don't want more... They want less..... Love Xbox's response thou .... Pretty much just said 360=PS4.......... Offline, tradable games, no cloud, no advanced wireless voice activated controller, no Skype, no tv support and cheap...... Do I dare even say Xbox 360 is prob a better deal than PS4 because its how much cheaper? $200?...... I still cant believe people even try to compare PS4 with One when there actually isn't much to compare... Xbox is doing newer and better thing and PS4 is doing the same $hit all over again just taking a page out of Xbox 360.... I hope Xbox does not give in to whiny little girls over stupid drama queens... I can bet anything none of yall here talking mess has had internet connection dropped within the last 24 hrs or prob even within the last freaking 24 weeks.... Your PS4 will be connected to the internet every time its turned on anyways so why is this even a freaking issue? Oh no but the kids in Africa wont be able to play Xbox One because its a poor country and not every one has money for fast internet or internet at all.... If you don't have money to pay for internet I can pretty much guarantee Xbox One will not be a problem...
Wow. That's just...wow... Of course though it's always been clear that you would buy Xbox One if Microsoft packaged their collective defecation.
I kind feel bad for you. For a while, I thought you were just trolling in here, then I chanced a glance at the Xbox One thread and realized you're rather delusional. Here's another Microsoft slip up E3. After the price announcement being greeted by a lackluster audience response, Mr. Phil Spencer could be heard backstage sadly murmuring "I thought they'd be happy about the new price..." <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wASERNRdkfU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
"Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time." this is pretty cool. i can have a shared library between me and my cousins even if they live in different cities.
Serious question, bc maybe Im missing something or not remembering fully...but how is the PS4 not just a souped up version of a PS3/360? In other words, outside of having better video game power (graphics, FPS, etc...), how is it different?
Sony didnt buy gaikai for nothing. All consoles will go 100% digital. MS just had the balls to go first.
Why fix something that isn't broken? Why force consumers into something like kinect if they don't want it? With a PS4, the customers will have flexibility with the add-ons like the PS eye camera and the move. With Xbone, there is no fleixbility and many restrictions. and lol at 360 = PS4
Nobody is saying the 360 = PS4...but you just said, yourself, that if something isnt broke, then dont fix it. In other words, PS4 is just an upgraded 360, right? That is, until they follow in Microsofts footsteps...and eventually do what the XBone is doing now.
Besides Kinect, what does the Xbox One do that is so different from the PS4? His whole thing of the console going digital, well you can buy games digital for the PS4 too...soo...yeah...it also has a removable hard drive and Xbox doesn't. The only thing that makes the Xbox different is the motion camera and all the nifty features like fantasy football updates that some of us care nothing about. If you consider motion gaming the future of gaming then by all means Xbox One is the only true next gen console.
