We need to get a recruiting thread going.

A&M #1 on rivals for the 2014 class although it's very early.

Texas currently at #3 while Baylor sits at #11.

Texas has been top 5 like forever and they have sucked the last few years.

I initially felt like TAMU's move to the SEC would affect OU's recruiting in a big way, not UT's. We snagged some of their targets last year, and I feel like that this is genuinely the case now, but I'm not sure we're grabbing the Dallas targets. Typically, do Dallas players gravitate to OU or is their team made up of players from smaller Texas towns more so? Or did the best players simply pick OU a lot? I'm not sure how OU built it's program in the past.

Anyways, I think my notion has been proven valid but I don't have the full picture.

Another big advantage TAMU has is the opportunity to play immediately since they haven't been stockpiling talent like OU and Texas, that advantage is fleeting. But that's a good thing.

Rivals content has gone downhill considerably since 247 sports was created. 247 pirated a lot of the best recruit-nicks from rivals and scout.

I follow recruiting quite closely (without paying for additional content) and I rarely visit Rivals anymore.

247sports.com, never heard of it, has TAMU ranked #1 in recruiting. Texas is 3. Huge difference.

Agreed the rankings are similar but their content is superior. Furthermore, they provide two rankings: 1) their own rankings of players and 2) the composite rankings which are equally weighted rankings of all publicly available recruit rankings (ESPN, rivals, scout, 247, any others). This composite rankings removes any biases that may exist for specific websites... biases that may have falsely inflated the Texas rankings in previous years.

    2 at ESPN
    Texas 3
    Baylor 17
    Texas Tech 19
    Oklahoma 22

    A&M - 13 total commits(4 ESPN 150)
    11 ****(four star)
    1 ***
    1 "other"

Who they have: Texas A&M has heated up as of late, landing three commitments in a one-week span: DE Jarrett Johnson on June 2, ESPN 150 QB Kyle Allen on June 3 and 4-star OT Koda Martin on June 8. The Aggies have 13 commitments for the 2014 class including four in the ESPN 150 (Hoza Scott, Dylan Sumner-Gardner and Nick Harvey are the others). Eleven of the 13 are four-star prospects. A&M has been heavy on defense, with eight of the commits slated to play there. The class of defensive backs in Texas is strong and the Aggies snagged cornerback Cedric Collins, Sumner-Gardner -- a safety -- as well as Harvey and Armani Watts, both athletes who are projected to play in the secondary. Notably, the Aggies are winning battles against other power programs in its region: six of their commits had offers from both Oklahoma and Texas and four others hold offers from one of those two schools.

Who they want: The Aggies still have other ESPN 150 prospects in their sights, including Texas' No. 1 player, defensive end Myles Garrett. They're also after the state's top safety (Jamal Adams), cornerback (Tony Brown), athlete (Davion Hall) and receiver (Armanti Foreman). They're also continuing to push for out-of-state prospects are targets such as five-star athlete Speedy Noil, ESPN 150 guard Braden Smith and ESPN 150 defensive tackle Gerald Willis III to name a few.

Well 247 has Baylor at #8 so I'll take that

I'm not sure what's more remarkable -- A&M or Baylor. The new stadium is probably helping.

Edit: JR - Those ESPN rankings have to be outdated Davion Hall has already committed to Baylor and they just got T'Kevian Rockwell (4 star) to committ yesterday I believe. He's a LB that got offers from OU, TCU to name a couple of schools.

Baylor, since their QB was too busy taking classes to have any fun. Boring Heisman is boring.

What makes Chip Kelly different than any other college coach that has gone to the NFL and failed? Why would his failure mean NFL coaches would stop hiring college coaches where no other previous failures have done so? Or are you just continuing your amazing unbroken streak of dumbass posts in a row?
