Not really. That's just how our society is. The country is made up of mostly morons.

Gee. That statement right there isn't racist at all.

You delight in the fact that one racial & cultural subset of people is 'taking over' another sovereign nation, creating a fundamental change and cultural imprint that will last for generations.

How would you feel if gringos decided to immigrate to Mexico en masse, both legally and illegally, swelling to 10 to 20 percent of the population within a few decades, forcing the use of English on government documents?

Would the typical Mexican citizen be cool with it? Or would they react negatively as their precious "culture" becomes diluted?

There would be no problem, if he had been wearing anything else. Some people just assumed he couldn't possibly be American because of how he was dressed. At least he knew the words, which can't be said for a lot of others who have also sang the anthem.

So, a kid being articulate and professional = douche?

You can't play a man's game like a kid. He acts that way because he often has to speak for everyone else, since he's basically the lead guy. He wouldnt be what he is, if he was sheepish and had the vocabulary and articulation of most 10-11 year old kids today.

    Shameful response on twitter.

This kid is American, he was simply dressed in a traditional Mexican outfit. No different than the US summer olympians wearing those feminine French style berets for the opening ceremonies.

Angkor Wat, most of the people here:
    - watched the NBA Finals' game from last night, a national event that sparked the comments,
    - have Twitter accounts and can denounce these things,
    - call out the racists and ask them to stop doing these things,
    - can discuss a topic like this sanely, etc., or you
    - can just ignore it.

    I'm not making a thread
No one said there was a debate. Everyone else is thinking D&D while you and I know there's no disagreement over young thugs on the interwebs.

You know what, well, just forget I ever posted this, though... and you don't even have to respond... you know?

Just IGNORE the racist and prejudiced comments... it's cool with me. Ignore this thread. Ignore everything. It's not going to offend anyone if you're just blind. Capisce?

If it happens, so be it. No one is forcing anything on anyone, just demanding people be respectful of cultural changes without offense. I'm not for speaking Spanish on English documents... I'll be the first one to tell you we should all speak English. Mr. De La Cruz didn't change the anthem to Spanish. Don't be scared.

    Are you scared?

I hate how people use tweets to prove a point. Just because someone can be embedded makes their opinion the most credible I guess.

I just hope you're this proactive on every racist comment you see on the internet, somehow I doubt it though.

SwoLy-D might be the most sensitive poster on this BBS.
That being said those remarks are just asinine. Are people really that stupid?

What is funny is that these same people a few minutes later watched a bunch of African Americans, not to mention an Argentine, a Brazilian and a Frenchman who make millions of dollars, surrounded by a fan base in that arena that is largely Latino. I wonder if they tweeted about those things too.. or did they change the channel... Or maybe they stuck around to watch this guy

It's true that no one can address every single racist tweet and YouTube comment out there but at the same time I don't think we should just ignore them.

One thing that social media has done is that it has taken the filter off of what most people think, largely because most people don't seem to think before they tweet. The fact that it has exposed a continuing and deep undercurrent of racism and ignorance in our society isn't something we should just be blase about.

I thought the girl singing the national anthem in game 2 looked evil.
