LUL, that sucks. I'll reserve my judgement until I watch, but truth be told, I've never liked anything Zack Snyder has touched. He's like a disguised Michael Bay. Way too gimmick happy. And what makes him such an authority on comic movies anyways? I guess Nolan couldn't fix his throwing motion. But yeah... we'll see.
It'll get more and more reviews, and I'm sure it'll settle in the mid 80s. Guys, this is a superhero movie. It isn't meant to be thought provoking. Superman's parents weren't shot in cold blood, leaving Kent orphaned, thus developing a dark persona. Superman had foster parents that taught him to do things right. I think Nolan's batman movies and the Iron Man movies have spoiled critics. Superman isn't as dark as Bruce Wayne should be, nor as carefree as Tony Stark's personality. I'd watch this movie, even if it was in the teens. It's freakin' Supes.
It's an overall tally of what critics think so I'd blame the critics and not the site. Looking at some of the early reviews it seems that the action was amazing but you really didn't connect with any of the characters.
Interesting that Superman Returns scored better than Man of Steel is now. Considering all the hate the former gets I'm surprised it rated that high among critics.
It's call hypocrite to the finest. When The Avengers can get away with it but Superman can't because Nolan's name is stuck to it. I will hold my judgement until I see it.
The Avengers is a generic action-comedy kiddie flick. Marvel movies are all the same and barely have re-watch value. They just don't hold up for me. Yet, im supposed to believe those are all rated way higher than Man of Steel and as high as the Batman Trilogy? Whatever. I don't care for rating sites, the only one i have found to be fair for the most part is IMDB,but even they have some bad ratings. And i do remember there were a lot of 1 votes for the TDK bc they didn't like it passing Godfather and Shawshank(i dont still don't get why Shawshank Redemption has been the #1 movie of all time for so long on IMDB. It's a fantastic film, but #1?).
Snyder I hate. Singer is meh. They're only being mentioned because they are always attached to superhero movies. Neither one seems to excel at it. Whedon nailed it. Nolan didn't even make superhero movies, he transcended the genre.
Superman Returns was on FX tonight and I watched most of it while flipping between the NBA game. It wasn't as bad as I remembered but I was very disappointed in it when it first came out. One thing though that I liked about it was it used the old 80's theme, yeah I know it was meant to fit into the Superman 2 universe. That is a great theme and I was hoping Man of Steel would use it but I am guessing not.
Does anyone suspect that the real reason behind all of Singer's comic films being average or below is because he's....
saw it tonight action is there, but the plot seem simple to me did it reach my expectations? no, but still solid, I have high standards these days you cannot at all compare these to the Nolan Batman universe, really isn't fair to
I was never all that hyped up for it to begin with, so I'll have a good time with it but I was never expecting a crazy great film. Superman just doesn't really do it for me. The Dark Knight series and Avengers spoiled superhero movies. Other superhero movies simply cannot compare.
