I don't mean your company in specifically but the circle of developers you run with. Do you think they call Sony's bluff and flock to XBone to spite the industry?
I certainly wouldn't mind Nintendo actually getting enough good games on the WiiU to make it worth buying... that way I'd have an excuse to go buy one and play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in HD (currently I have it for the 3DS). On the other hand, I think I'd like it even better if the WiiU failed so hard that Nintendo just gave up and exited the console market. I would much rather have what are currently Nintendo exclusives on the more powerful systems.
I was wondering what that game was called all they showed was a giant X at the end of the trailer. Lol anywho, looked really good. Hopefully they show more at E3 later. Playable demos tomorrow and Saturday at best buy stores: Super Mario 3D World Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Mario Kart 8 Zelda: WW HD
If they failed the console market I don't think they'd do that. They would just focus all of their attention on handheld gaming which they pretty much own the market. They're too stubborn to be making their exclusives for the other 2.
The developers I run with do games for both consoles at the same time. What is happening is that publishers are pulling back and waiting to see who wins the console wars. Activision, Ubisoft, EA are all dipping their toes in the waters but not going full force behind either console and that is causing some major strife among independent developers. Happens every time thers is a console change. The worry - is that this time, there might not be any winner - but I am pretty confident they both will be fine. XBone will do better in the US, and Sony will own Japan. Both will do ok in Europe. And we developers will get busy making games for both again. DD
MS has abandoned Asia completely. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/pre-order-xbox-one/disclaimer Interesting enough I don't think MS cares about games anymore. I think they saw the success and profits advertising on Live brought and they want more of that. They want an always on machine that caters ads to consumers ala Facebook and dicided that the gaming would be the second priority.
Yeeeaaaahhhh. You're probably right. A guy can dream though. At one point it was pretty unimaginable that you'd have Sonic on a Nintendo console, after all.
It is by Monolith Soft, who has a bunch of people from old Square, particularly the Xenogears and Chrono Cross teams IIRC. Made Xenosaga and some other RPGs for Namco, but were sold to Nintendo. I ignored them for the most part over the years, but Nintendo seems to be doing good for them (Xenoblade seems great...still need to play it). GAFers actually seem really disappointed in Nintendo for some reason. I guess I'll find out when I check it out later, but I don't really know why. Guess things were announced before, and nothing new now? No surprises? Nintendo fans can be...difficult I guess. Some of the exclusive talk was annoying (1st day avatar packs PSbox 720 only!), but I kind of liked how both 360 and PS3 did well this generation, and developers were (eventually) able to put out great products on both. Wouldn't mind another generation with no "loser" (or everyone being "winners"), and both platforms doing very well. Long generation cycle that doesn't have to be preempted. More work for developers/publishers in supporting two consoles, but at least developers should have an easier time with multiplatform development this time around. No more Cell and 512MB RAM (or 256MB graphics RAM) to deal with! Good ol' x86 too!
Sounds about right. I feel like Microsoft is trying to rescue its failures in other markets with this console considering all of the nonsense outside of loading a game disc. I think they're a little butthurt about getting pushed around by Apple and Google. Sony on the other hand exerted all its efforts in meeting the gamer's needs.
Think that's it, nothing new or exciting. The X trailer looked great though, also liked the new Mario Kart.
Nintendo Direct video that showed earlier this morning: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/13D1I5s236o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yoshi's Island sequel: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vtJyud6dFNM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Why would anyone buy an x-box on it's release after the horrible quality of the 360? does anyone still have an original 360 they bought back in 2005?
Luigi goes solo in non-Luigi's Mansion game: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K4c1Oeh24yk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> They're marketing this as $19.99 if bought from their e-shop or 29.99 if bought from a retail store. Not bad pricing for a first party game.
Much as I may not like MS's business practices with both the 360 and the One, I sincerely doubt they'd be stupid enough to launch with such a preposterously failure-prone device twice in a row. They know it cost them last time, both from a PR standpoint and from the fact that they gave out free support to everybody.
A couple links to the Monolith's game X or Xenoblade sequel whatever you want to call it. http://youtu.be/ue5DSuDbTgw http://youtu.be/X5F8MFBpMb4
Yeah, I think Xbone should be pretty solid. They've gotten better when it comes to engineering hardware I think. The rumors of manufacturing problems is worrying, but think the price could indicate that they're serious about making good hardware (could have gone with cheaper price, but worse parts/QA/etc.). (I know people think the camera is the difference in price, but MS was already using "cheaper" parts, so IMO it is more than just that)
Partly why I'm holding off getting any system, Xbox in particular. And I'm too busy having fun with this generation still.
Yea its impossible for microsoft to stick with their guns now. It would just be suicide and nobody is that stupid. The small .1% chance that they stick to their guns would actually make me respect them more. Even though me and 99% of the public play games online, making Online a "Requirement" is just bull****. There is no reason to come out with that and they will probably shrink back into their shell and retract all this crap
