Love that the PS4 doesen't cost as much as the PS3 did when it debut back in 06'. Is it me or do the exclusives kind of suck with both consoles...?
It leaves off a more detailed explanation about used game support and the Kinect spying on people, but otherwise yeah, good summary. I expect it to be updated soon.
Wow, someone's butthurt. Everyone has their opinion and your constant whining won't help them change their mind. Live and let live.
For anybody that's getting an Xbone, enjoy playing that with your 3 friends because everybody is getting a ps4.
XBox's fatal flaw is a lack of choice. Don't want Kinect? Too bad. Don't want to be hooked to the internet? Too bad. Want to buy/sell used games in a free market? Too bad. A big reason why PS4 is beating Xbox in price is that they didn't force you into the Move/Eye. Kinect 2.0 is supposed to be a big improvement over the original, and should be worth it, but that doesn't mean everyone wants it right away. Also, currently, what happens if I want to play an Xbox 360 Kinect Game? Am I setting up 2 kinects and a wii bar in my living room so I can use all 3? Backwards compatability doesn't matter to me on PS4, since I don't have a PS3 (though I'd love to be able to keep playing PS1 & PS2 games on it), but it will be very annoying with the XB1.
Not to mention you'll have Gaikai for older games on the PS4. Microsoft is just getting completely shat on at E3 and Sony is the one putting them down. Barring Nintendo doing something crazy (which I hope they do) it seems like Sony won hands down.
Well said. Microsoft really overstepped their bounds on this one. They're bullying their customers. Not a smart move when your customers have options. Sure, it may give them a little more direct income in the short-run, but in the long run, they're alienating their userbase. Sony didn't do anything extraordinary. They just didn't change their business model. The fact that they were able to win the console war simply by doing nothing speaks volumes about Microsoft's strategy. I'm guessing the PS4 will nearly double the XB1 in sales.
Oh wow...this thread has gotten pretty bad. I'm not sure there's any point in going back and correcting all the incorrect statements (too much time, and will be like talking to a wall anyway). Just a few comments for now: New Dreamfall actually is more or less confirmed for PS4, and likely not for Xbone. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...their-say-on-specs-self-publishing-and-tvtvtv I'd rather just get it for PC (I backed it for that already anyway), unless they come up with a good reason to play it for PS4. But this is how some of Sony's indie love pays off. VGchartz is not a reputable source. More or less released numbers + guesses (but passed off as legit). They're probably around that, but don't take those as hard numbers. Just take the general trends from the numbers. PS3 might not be ahead, but it is pretty close, and given that Sony is still really pushing PS3 (Beyond, GT6, Last of Us, etc., a good sign for PS4 owners 7+ years from now BTW), it will push some more units in the next few years. Back to good stuff... Quantic Dream had a nice tech demo (in-engine ) for PS4: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/If5YFgceMFE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Because I still like it, here's something similar they did for PS3 back in 2006: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mrepeMdCwN4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> If you played Heavy Rain, that model and actress should be very familiar (and of course, the final product looked much better). There's also the Kara demo and Beyond to look at for other PS3 stuff. Excited to see how Quantic Dream applies this to their next-gen game. Oh yeah, forgot to quote this, but thatgamecompany is not exclusive to Sony. They had a 3 game deal (Flow, Flower, and Journey) with Sony, but that's over now. AFAIK, they're going multiplatform. So don't count them as exclusive to PS4. (Sony is really great at finding good indies and getting exclusive games from them, but thatgamecompany can't be included in that list right now)
Also, Yoshida confirmed you can upgrade the PS4's HDD like the PS3. Also region free apparently. Told you guys he was awesome. edit: MS apparently giving up on Japan? No release plans for it, and Asia launch is delayed until late 2014. Maybe points to the yield issues (and $500 price would back that too). Maybe FF/KH could be exclusive. http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/11/4418144/xbox-one-launch-in-asia-late-2014
Yeah. Just saying that if MS doesn't try in Japan at all (well....less than usual), that might hurt them in the RPG/Japanese game market, maybe SE will decide it isn't worth porting those games. There is still a pretty big NA/EU userbase for them though, but I guess if PS4 does really well (and/or RPGs don't sell well on Xbone), those could remain exclusive. As I said last night, that's probably why they're not saying one way or the other about whether it is exclusive. Need to see how market is in a few years. It should be really easy to port though (unlike FFXIII)...so Sony would have to be putting up their own moneyhats for SE to turn that down I think. edit: I should quit pretending like those games are actually going to come out.
Uhhhhh... sure. A decade ago maybe you could begin to make that argument. But today, Halo is close to the point of saturation. I don't see many people blindly buying a XBone solely because they absolutely need to play the next 10 Halo games. I get it now! You're actually from the year 2007! General consensus is that 360 killed PS3 in early-life, but as the years have worn on PS3 has at least drawn even if not taken the lead in the exclusives department. But back in 2007, 360 was dominating and Halo was still a big deal. It all makes sense now...
Not to mention not even out the door and Sony already has Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFXV. Those two alone will outsell Halo for sure.
LOL. Epic burn. Nice. PS3 was very much a slow starter, hampered by a high price point and lack of titles in its first 2 years. Since then, it indeed has pulled ahead of the 360. The tables appear turned now, except this time, nobody has an upperhand on titles or hardware. The only real difference between the consoles are the user restrictions (DRM, always-online, used gaming, etc) and the price point, both of which Sony has over Microsoft.
Halo sales > FF sales in the past, especially in North America. FF is also coming off one it's worst sales performances ever with FFXIII-2.
Im lacking to understand how PS4 is killing Xbox in the exclusives department? I mean, if there is a difference, it just comes down to preference. I see it as a draw. As far as the Xbox and DRM, used games, Kinect, connected to the internet...none of that stuff bothers me at all bc Im always connected to the internet, I dont deal with used games, and I do funny stuff for the person that is watching me through my kinect (At the least, when I get killed in COD or Battlefield, I can flick that guy off with some serious passion). I will probably end up with both systems at some point during their lifespans...initially, Im going to purely make my decisions on what exclusives I want to play...gonna wait a few months before deciding which direction to go. Edit: With Xbox being developer friendly bc of its stance on the used game market, you have to consider that down the line, more/better gaming content may be released for the xbox.
How's the Xbox any different than a PC? We've been buying PC games and putting license codes in them for years. With the creation of steam and similar marketplace stores, the used game market just doesn't exist. Yet no one complains about that. The Xbox seems like it has some great innovative features that are being overshadowed by this whole used game debacle. I'm surprised Microsoft went that route when it seems like they weren't forced to do it by publishers.
So developers are going to stiff it to half the gaming market because one platform is more developer friendly? Goodbye profit. I guess EA will die sooner than we thought. A shame for Star Wars
