"Lack of community feel"? For serious? The only difference I notice on the two networks in that regard is Live seems to have more profanity-obsessed preteens, for whatever reason.

And even if the download speeds were worse awhile back, Live speed and PSN speed have been the same for me for at least the past year.

I grant that Live has cross-game chat and PSN doesn't. But that's really it. And it's already been confirmed PS4 will have that.

Totally agree. Like I said just a day or two ago though, I was kind of expecting it.

On the one hand, quite pissed about it. On the other hand, I was going to stay signed up for PS+ anyway, just for the cloud saves feature. So while I'm annoyed, I'm not personally losing any money due to this move.

It's a pretty key difference that they're not making PS+ an additional pay gate to get to Netflix and the like, as the 360 does now. Now all they have left to do is prove to me that their UI will remain relatively ad-free, and I'll be happy enough.

Eh..I'll give Microsoft credit for trying to a bit bolder with the new generation of consoles. Sony seems to have went a safer route, which is fine. But I think Xbox One is getting a little too much, undeserved hate. Will be interesting to see how things play out in a few years with all the things they're trying.

Since Xbox came into the fray I haven't really liked too many games on the Paystation. And so long as Halo and Gears remain exclusives and Xbox continues to be better for FPS (Killzone I've never liked) I'll be sticking with Microsoft. Everything that has been revealed hasn't changed that. Kinect I'm indifferent too and honestly don't see how it can be any more intrusive than all the other tech out there. DRM doesn't affect me cause I take my time playing games, often play them multiple times and almost never sell them back. And I already have XBL Gold and am always connected anyway so that doesn't bother me.

In any case, I think when it's all said and done, all the whining will be long forgotten once this new generation finds its feet.

I don't really sell back games anymore, but Gamestop has always been bad.

You can try a local independent store, or cut out the middleman altogether and sell on Amazon. Of course for that you may have to wait a while until someone else actually wants it.

I'd like for you to explain "bolder"?

DRM, required online connection, Camera that records you for data mining?

That's bold to you? Charging you to play a borrowed game? Bold?

Sony was bold today. They didn't fold to developer pressure and gave in to what CONSUMERS wanted.

you're better off just selling them directly to someone who wants that specific game. Stores that buy back games usually try and get you like that.

The DRM stuff is what got it this hate, and it'll be there for as long as it's around I'm guessing. It may cool down, I mean I guess the DRM stuff kinda cooled down for Diablo 3...I guess...I don't really follow that game though.

Gamers HATE that DRM stuff with a passion.

Personally I've cooled on the XB1

Yeah, I hated the camera...but if the privacy features are what they say they are...then I count the camera as a plus. Yeah, motion gaming has been a gimmick...but Nintendo sales it as a gimmick. I could see a developer making a great game for it...I hope someone tries to other than a dancing, motion, arcade sports game...we'll see.

    The DRM thing sucks.

Honestly I'm buying a PS4 first for Naughty Dog games and it's cheaper. The exclusives matter more to me than anything and I don't care for Halo any more and Microsoft didn't show me any new exclusives for their system...

But Sony still has Naughty Dog I believe so, that's a BIG difference for me.

It's worth noting that some major e-book publishers have begun to abandon DRM altogether because they're finding it's not actually reducing piracy, only pissing people off.

Obviously video games are a different market with different problems, but still...

If you want more money then Amazon.

Best Buy isn't too bad...They were actually really good not too long ago but their buy back prices have come closer to Game Stop. If you're not in a hurry then I think Amazon is probably your best bet.

Per this, looks like 15% referral fee, then $1.35 closing fee, $0.99 per item fee. So yeah, not insignificant at the end of the day.

Like I said, I really don't sell games anymore, that's just what I found Googling. No idea what eBay fees are like.

What I really like about the Xbox is the TV stuff more than anything else. I've been using Google TV for the past couple of years and Google hasn't put much attention towards it, hard to use when it's so slow.

It's also hard to justify the $500 price just for that, but that's the only thing making me want to buy either of the next-gen consoles. I don't game as much as I used to which is the primary function for either of these. I also like the updated sports integration with ESPN, the NFL, and the NBA.

Knowing me, I'll probably end up paying the $500 for all of the non-gaming stuff.

    Pirates gonna pirate.

What DRM has shown to do in some cases for PC gamers is just make it harder for legitimate owners to play their game.

I think devs should make more use of DLC. That way they can always make money and encourage gamers to buy and keep the game instead of selling it.

I don't ever sell my Mass Effect games because I want to play the DLC...same for GTA games too.

I definitely get that, but again for me personally it's no big deal since I don't borrow/lend games nor sell them. Certainly I've bought my fair share of used games over the years, but lately I'm not even doing that anymore.

Sounds a lot like personal preference. I like owning what I buy so to each their own.
