I don't think Spike is airing Sony's conference. Guess because it is during prime time. You'll have to check it out online I think. I might be wrong though. I hope MS is getting a profit off of $500. Can't see why not unless Kinect costs a lot more than expected, or maybe they are having some manufacturing problems (and aren't delaying or downclocking the GPU). PS4 could undercut I think (without a camera), but not sure what Sony will do. Can botch it like MS. If they do undercut, will be interesting to see how that plays out.
GT stream showing Thief (on PS4, but doubt that matters). Some more PS4 games within the next hour I think.
I was ready to get the Xbox One, but not for $500. Guess ill be waiting for the price drop. Which prob isn't a bad thing.
The gamer community seems to be favoring the PS4 at the moment. If they undercut Microsoft, they'll only solidify their position more. I've seen rumors of a $349 launch price which would absolutely kill MS. "Wait, the console I was already leaning towards is cheaper? What ever will I do now?"
I'm guessing the PS4 will be cheaper as it isn't bundled with a kinect. I'm hoping they still keep PSN free and just add more features to PS+ to make that more appealing. If that's the case then money wise the PS4 would be overall cheaper then he Xbox.
Sony could dig in by being cheaper (at least without camera), more powerful, less restrictive, etc. Guess they could lose out on games though, and that is important. Sony is usually pretty good about putting out great games. And they're pretty good about botching a great opportunity when given one too. Hehe...talking to Eidos guy about Thief on PS4 vs other platforms. Started trying to get technical, but I don't think the guy knows anything about that. "Maybe polygons or particles are different, but from what I deal with, it is the same." Seemed like he wasn't comfortable talking tech, just experience, gameplay, etc. Wasn't really paying much attention, but still excited about a new Thief. edit: PS4 still has more games announced for it than Xbone? Hmm...didn't realize that. Guess all those indie games.
Their market is wealthy 30 something's that can't afford the pricey PC gaming market! It's a steal really. MS will barely make a profit and they protect developers!! Win win! Signed, DD
Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure Sony will announce pricing tonight. I wasn't expecting pricing for either console. Maybe they will now since they could build up positive press. $350 is too low I think. If MS went with $400, Sony might have gone with that if they wanted to be aggressive, but not really any point in doing that with the $500 price. They don't even have to undercut that. Could get by matching the price, or just barely undercutting it. If Sony wasn't doing so poorly overall, perhaps they could take more of a loss. Even with PS3 priced @ $599, they were losing $200-$300 a unit.
Didn't expect it to be so soon. I'll wait to see what Sony has lined up for PS4 tonight before I decide if I want to preorder.
Killzone PS4 segment on GT stream now. edit: Thought they were going to show it off. Didn't really reveal much. Meh.
Hmmm.... I don't want one, but maybe buy for massive profit? Even the bomb that was Wii U had a profit in re-sell value, just not enough for me to bother. Screw you Microsoft.
You can only sell used Xbox One systems through authorized retailers. (just messing around, but who knows with MS)
It was more popular because it came out first. PS3's price was a huge detterent, but also required multi-day waits at launch just to get (they shorted supply big time) and they were going for over $2K online, IIRC. Xbox 360 was $400 at launch in 2005 (though it did have the crappier core version for $300). $500 is a natural progression, IMO.
So let's see...Xbox One...plus a controller...plus *a* game...and we're talking what? $610-620 plus tax? Hahahahaha. Way to alienate your consumer base Microsoft. After having a Xbox, Xbox 360, and beta testing Xbox live...if PS4 is $400 or less, I won't be buying a Xbox.
