I didn't like season 1 and 2 was just ok. I've watched all the episodes so now I feel obligated to watch until it gets cancelled. Season 3 looks promising though: Another alien race, seems they will be working with rebels from the skitters, Moon Bloodgood's baby seems to have powers, that guys eldest son has something wrong with him.

I fully expect all these interesting elements of the show will be squandered, but whatever; there aren't any alien/spacey shows on TV right now. At least it isnt as bad as Revolution (another terrible show I hate that I watch)

Think it's pulling in pretty good ratings...don't know how much it all costs but it could be around until it's ending. At least I hope it does well so someone will have the guts to bring in another sci-fi show.

I'm pulling for it, 2nd season was better than the first. Hopefully it will be one of those shows that gets better.

OK... That was a pretty good premiere; I'm eating my words right now. They introduced a lot of interesting (yet clichéd , but what can you do?) concepts in 2 hours. I checked to see if they got a new show-runner because the start of this season feels different from the last 2 seasons. Sure enough Falling Skies hired a new show-runner and writers to helm the 3rd season. good.

Gone were most of the things I hated about this show: the heart felt, rallying moments at the end of each episode that didn't seemed earned, the constant history lessons by Noah Wyle's character, Noah Wyle's son's annoying whiny attitudes.

I'm on-board now; I wanna see were this goes.

I initially started watching for Moon Bloodgood but damn she looks real rundown. What the hell happened?

Yeah, a lot of action in those two episodes. Less family drama going on. Some interesting storylines at play here, I like to see where they go with it.

The sleep walking/dream scenes reminds me of Mass Effect though lol.

Decent/good premier. One thing I hated though was the kid, Matt. PLEASE don't do this rebellious whiny kid/teen thing. Not sure why these shows always do that.

yeah, I'm with you. I thought he went through the rebellious stage last season, right? Can't remember. The one good thing about it is that he realized he was being a jack-ass by the end of the hour so at least he knows he was in the wrong. Maybe that realization ends that part of his character development.

I gotta say I don't really trust these new guys. The comment that really stuck out to me was about the skitters needing the fuel and "why didn't they bring enough fuel with them" which makes me think they might be on the run. I really wish they would ask the rebel skitters about these new guys because it seems like they might have an idea about them

It's like a brand new show with a much different feel than last year. Sure it needed an overhaul and they gave it one, but not sure yet if I like it or not. The 7-month jump and the huge changes left me feeling a bit disconnected.

I'll give it a couple of more episodes.

DreamShook, I hope your comment is correct.

I'm only watching now because I have been with the show since the first season. Even though the 3rd season is better I still feel its my obligation to watch. I would say skip it; but if you have nothing to watch go ahead a pick it up.

Not scifi but Graceland on USA is solid summer programming.

I tried watching this show from the beginning but was bored to tears. I couldn't have cared less about the dad and his kids.

I like the storyline of the war with the aliens.

But the love stories and the "alien baby" storiy are just such sappy old Hollywood crap. Why do writers feel so compelled to put such garbage in a show? (Asking rhetorically)

    Agreed.

I do think the 7 month jump was too much. Such significant plot developments like forming an alliance with a super alien race happens off screen? And then they don't really explain in detail what's happened until the 3rd episode of the new season? Not to mention the hearing the skidders referred to as different names all of a sudden? It was very disorienting at first.

So I finally caught up on this whole series this Summer (I stopped a few episodes into Season 2) and finished the finale last night. It was an enjoyable show, but with flaws. Still I thought it was improving every season. I appreciate the direction they took in Season 4 in trying new things. I think some worked, like the Espheni ghetto, and some not so much, like Lexi's storyline. But at least the focus stayed on the war. Season 5 went completely off the rails with too many pointless, filler episodes. I was getting so frustrated, but I had to finish, hoping for some redemption in the finale, but it never came. Sucks to think how great the show could have been had they made some different choices later in the series. And they completely screwed Pope's story arc. What a waste.
