I'm not a fan of the "big 3" model. Theoretically speaking having 3 superstars should be great, but the reality is there's only 1 ball, and that 3rd superstar gets marginalized and becomes an overpaid role player.

LBJ-Wade-Bosh, KG-Pierce-Allen, Kobe-Gasol-Bynum, Roy-LMA-Oden, that 3rd dude always becomes limited because there just isn't enough ball to go around. If we end up with Howard, rather than throwing money at yet another max player I'd just use the capspace to ensure we keep fielding a deep team. Guys like Parsons, Lin, Delfino, Asik and Garcia would be more important than having somebody like say Josh Smith and then dleaguers on the team.

West would be a better fit. Bosh doesn't have a great record as the 3rd fiddle in Miami, I don't know if it would change in Houston.

Every title since 2006 except one has been won by a "big 3", in a results driven world....

They were won by teams with a big 3, but 3rd guy wasnt as important as the other two. Wade, for example, wasnt as important as mike miller and shane battier.in bostons ring, ray allen wasnt as needed as rondo and pj brown, and of course Odom, Artest and Ariza contributed more than Bynum in laker rings. Those teams were lucky they had vets playing below market, but you can see how a deeper team is better than a third star.

Bosh would be a 1B option on this team if no other roster moves were made this offseason.
