Serena changed the game of women's tennis. That said women's tennis is garbage.

Sad djoko lost, but I love the rivalry. I'm hoping djoko can get the next two slams, he's such a great player. Hard to root against him.

from 2002-2010 the womens game was rich with talent... these were more expiernced players who had power and also variety on their shots

Serena is a BEAST on clay now, but i think some of that is her competiton. When Henin, Clijsters, Davenport, Venus, Sharapova( before the shoulder injury), Kuzzy were around they were monsters on all surfaces, and they would beat each other up. Graf with her variety would win a few matches againist them, but would she win 22 majors.. HELL NO( because she wouldnt be able to blow them off the court, these women could track down more balls and put them in play... remmeber Kim Clijsters splits, the women became more athletic and hit harder. They would crush first serves and 2nd serves.. Sharapova in particular

So previously, your argument when Steffi (old) beat Serena was that that was only because Serena was still young.

When Steffi was young and beat Evert and Navratilova, it was because they were "dinosaurs".

Actually it was Seles who i give credit to for CHANGING the game, she was the first to bring attacking 1st serves into the womens game, she brought the "grunt" that we now see from a lot of european youngsters now, and also i think made the two-handed cross court back hand a weapon( something that Serena Williams has mastered)

Serena might have changed the game, by being the best at attacking serves and making defense offense, and also winning cheap points on her serve, when before the serve was simply used as a way to get into the point

the courts back then dont play like they do now, the courts back then absorbed power.. the courts now are super fast( like the US Open, and Queens). I dont think Steffi goes 3 sets with Serena with how the courts are now

Eh whatever. I'd say Serena is the most talented wonan ever, but she didn't give a **** about the sport for years and that's why she will never own the records. If she didn't take off all that time to be a celebrity, she would be no question the greatest woman ever. She's a physical freak of nature for sure.

But again women's tennis is garbage. Why argue over it ha.

Steffi was the fastest player by far. Fittest. Fitter than Serena.

Serena was never really fully intrested in tennis up until she met that french guy she is now with. So she is kind of an underachiever, because she won majors while being overweight and not motivated. I think when her sister was murdered she gained a lot of weight, and started to only look at tennis as a way to make money, she was content with getting to quarters or semis or tourneys and just collecting a check

But you are right, she is the greatest talent i have ever seen in womens game, and best player as well. Just not the most decorated

Steffi had agility, but only a prime Clijsters matched a prime Serena in quickness

Serena is 31 and moving better than players who are much younger than her, thats not normal

Lleyton Hewitt for years was the fittest guy on tour, but would get owned by players with more talent

Lleyton Hewitt doesn't have 22 Grand Slam titles.

    Steffi Graf = best ever

    Steffi Graf >>>> Serena Williams

That's because mens tennis involves much more skill. Girls can have success soley from being great athletes.

Sharapova admittedly is one of the most unathletic women on tour but she beats 95% of women including the athletic ones with her hard/precise ballstriking. Sharapova was born with a natural talent to be a great ballstriker, her ball ballstriking makes up for her lack of athletic ability because she wins so many points, or gets approach shots off her striking that are easy put aways for almost every player on tour. So i would say Sharapova is an example of being a talented tennis player without the athletic ability. But their are few tennis players who are talented with athletic ability like Serena, Kuzzy, Vika, and a few others in the mid 2000's

on the mens side, 99% of the players are athletic

NEW YORK – Serena Williams is the greatest ever in women's tennis.

The USA's Serena Williams meets news media Saturday in advance of the U.S. Open.

    By Jerry Lai, US Presswire

That, at least, is how Kim Clijsters sees it.

"To me Serena is the best ever just because I think physically she just stands out," Clijsters said Saturday in a news conference at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, two days before the start of the U.S. Open. "When she's in good shape, I think she just stands out tremendously. She's fast, she's strong, she has a very good eye, as well. I think the combination of that is — I mean, what we have seen over the last few months is the best player ever."
