Big Star is OK. Kinda overrated in my opinion (I am from Texas, so maybe I'm spoiled). They do have Bombshell Blonde and Lone Star, so +1 there.

Hot Doug's if you can make it for hot dogs.

Best sushi in the city is Sushi Toro. Really small spot in Lincoln Park, but the chef is a great guy - very friendly. Not overly fancy or expensive, but just good quality and creative. As I said, small place, though, so it can get crowded.

I'm from Texas but moved to Chicago years ago... I"m a HUGE margarita fan and trust me - once you're in a transplanted Texan in the North for a while, you'll kill for a great margarita... and Big Star and Flo are the only two i've found that deliver here in CHI

forgot to say that yes - if you're visiting from Texas - going somewhere for Margaritas here is a fruitless endeavor.

I was speaking directly from a tacos perspective.

That being said, I've never had their margaritas. I'll make sure to give it a whirl!

Haha no in the building that's separated by an alley/el tracks from Big Star. Right above People Tapas & Lounge.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I just booked my ticket for next week, I'll have to give some of these places a whirl. I'll be in staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Lake Forest, so just bit off the the beaten path.

Not sure if mentioned.....but if you are hitting Chicago up........got to....GOT TO go to 'Howl at the Moon' on Hubbard street downtown. It is a piano bar with some amazing talent. Had the time of my life there this past August when I was visiting family and cannot wait wait to go back. Enjoy the trip!

Just got a text from my father-in-law saying he will be coming home from Chicago on Sunday. He asked what kind of pizza we like at Pequod's again. That'll be one large Pepperoni and fresh Garlic, please.

    I'm pumped.

It's been about a year for me. Best pizza I've had, although I've never been to NYC. My in-laws are moving about an hour outside of Chicago, so I can see more in my future.

If you're a fan of really thin and crunchy pizza, put D'Agostino's on your list too. It's my favorite pizza in Chicago because I prefer thin over deep-dish.
