He should have taken our $1.9M offer. I said it earlier this year, even when some were projecting him as a 1st round pick. There was no way he was going that high after being very underwhelming at LSU.
I like major league quality, not minor league quality. 5th starter ceilings are the last thing I want more of.
Thinking about it... I'd agree with The Beard. This draft could be a little pitcher-heavy. 2014-16 becomes Darwinism in action with the system's pitchers.
Well, if Luhnow thinks that is their ceiling, then I suppose he should be fired? Or maybe he sees them as much better than that? Is it possible he knows more about these guys than most of the people posting on here?
Would definitely be a value slot for him. If anyone should know whether he would really sign or not, it is the Astros
Luhnow has a great history in drafts in which he played a major role. Their success wasn't from college pitchers.
Coeds. Play baseball with brother. Coeds. Develop arm to play third. Coeds. I am only seeing upside here.
Gregor was #425 on the BA Top 500 Best 1B in the Cape Cod League, polished approach, runs well for a 1B, power is a question
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Astros">#Astros</a> go with Conrad Gregor; have to say that's a surprise in 4th round. Analytical pick, 53 BB this year, hit just 3 HR. <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23mlbdraft">#mlbdraft</a></p>— John Manuel (@johnmanuelba) <a href="https://twitter.com/johnmanuelba/status/343063749160222720">June 7, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I met Jose Cruz when I was a kid. We lived in Cocoa Florida for a little while. We lived really close to the Astros Spring Training Complex. The Astros had a stocked pond at the complex that some of the players would fish in. We would climb over the fence and fish a little if we didnt see anyone around. We saw Jose one day and we watched him fish. He saw us with our poles and motioned us to climb over the fence. We fished with him 2 or 3 times. Jose was a good dude. His English wasn't so good back then. It was better when I heard him speak years later at a card show.
