Spurs are labeled boring because they aren't flashy, barely throw any alley-oops, and generally look less athletic than the Clippers / Heat / Nuggets of the NBA. Plus, it doesn't help their prime time slots being that their big 3 is older. And again, boring.
He was on Parker like a cheap suit. I'm not sure what else he could have done. Parker, somehow, got just free enough to hit an amazing shot.
Strawmen? You're the one talking about "true" basketball fans while we were talking about ROCKET fans. I was curious as to why a Houston Rocket fan would root for another Texas team. Because usually if not in nearly every other similar situation, the fans of teams that share the same state hate each other. And I didn't call anyone less of a rocket fan because they root for the Spurs, I just don't quite understand it...just like when people rooted for the Mavs and then when the Mavs won people here were like "Well...these bragging Mavs fans kind of suck...now they are saying Dirk's one championship is better than Hakeem's two." Well duh. It's not going to get any better with Spurs fans and Spurs fans already suck. Their organization is classy but a lot of their fans...meh.
I was at the gym during the 2nd half. Most people stopped working out and started watching the game with about 5 mins left. Nearly everyone wanted the Spurs to win, mostly because they were against Miami. There were a couple of Heat fans but they were afraid to speak up. TP's shot was awesome! It's fitting the game was decided by a great play instead of a dumb one or a controversial ref call. I don't think too much should be read into game 1. Even if the Spurs win game 2, the way they win will be important. Miami is quite capable of coming back from 0-2, much less 0-1. However, if the Spurs win game 2 because they've figured out how to stop the Heat in crunch time, the series is over. This may sound strange, but I think having two days off to game 2 favors the Spurs and gives them a better chance to go up 2-0. Heat will likely even things up Sunday. Will be curious to see if the Spurs can bottle them up again in the 4th quarter if they keep it close.
I've mentioned it earlier but it's funny how inconsistent officiating is and how they don't seen to follow the same guidelines. Green jumped into Allen the same exact way Allen jumped into Harden here <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6w3fRHrKWVg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> yet that is called and this was not. is it a foul or not? shouldn't it be clear? it was a huge play tonight after all.
What's funny is during the Pacers series, Heat fans had no trouble speaking up at the gym. I'd say it was 50/50 at the time.
i agree about the days off favoring SA. it's like the win becomes something of the past and you get that complacent human nature out of your system and become hungry again. however the spurs shooting was way off in game 1 and they missed a ton of wide open shots. i think it's likely due to rust from the layoff plus a little finals jitters for their role players. and if those shots go in next game, this series is basically over.
Unless Spurs go ice, ice cold, it is theirs to lose. The Spurs penetration created a lot of open shots and it seemed they had an easier way to score than the Heat. Heat outrebounded them, outassisted them and outshot them in %, they still lost. If Duncan get into foul trouble, Heat can smoke them, but Timmy is just too good for the Heat to handle. Heat needs to play meaner with Haslem, or Birdman, more flops from Lebron and more anger from Wade; otherwise, it is trophy time in San Antonio. I do not like Spurs, but Heat is more evil than Spurs and Mavs. Bosh still owes us an IPad.
One of the most ironic thing is the Cav reject Green coming up big. Can't believe Duncan and Parker have finally matured, not Manu though, the young guys are more mature. Miami has no answer for the mature players, Wade and Bosh are too inconsistent.
Dude that was like a decade ago? Until we can get to their level, then yes there is a rivalry but if we're talking about right now, not even close, lol... Our rivalry right now is Golden State Warriors.
Its like you are the loser pot head brother, and the spurs are the successful CEO brother, but that brother never helps you he just keeps beating you up. There will be some jealousy and resentment involved.
It was funny how the halftime show people all thought Miami would blow it open in the 2nd half. If anything, Spurs are only going to get crisper and more confident going forward. Chris Bosh does not look like a max player at all.
They were mentality more immature than now. They kind of took things for granted and was too much Pop's pupils. After 6 years of not making the Finals and knowing that it is going to be close to their last chance, they finally wake up and get their acts together. You can see that with Parker's determination and consistency and Duncan's conditioning and shooting.
