The Spurs played excellent team defense...that is what happened...Miami couldnt score as a team...

Stop singling out Lebron...he did everything..its time his teammates take some stress off his shoulders...

In the last 3 minutes, when the Heat were down 6, LeBron hits a left handed layup. Bosh missed shot, Lebron offensive rebound and putback. Lebron makes 2 of 2 FTs. Lebron kicks out to Bosh for an open 3.

It's not that the Heat didn't play well down the stretch. The Spurs just played better.

In the 4th LeBron played good defense on Tony Parker when he was matched up on him, well until Parker hit that great shot at the end.

But of course nobody gives a care about defense only focuses on the offense.

the heat had 7 points total in the 4th with 3 min left in the 4th, they didn't lose the game in the last 3 min. more of the lack of aggressiveness in that whole 4th quarter. lbj had 18 points so he had 12 points prior to that last 3 minutes? that's not enough, albeit his teammates didn't play good. he's the best player and it was his time to take over.

I didn't mean to imply that's what you said, it's just you (maybe it was Space City, but you guys are so close to each other's nuts I can't tell you apart) keep saying how it's completely unfathomable why people would root for the spurs instead of the heat, and I was offering a logical explanation.

Fans of true basketball overwhelmingly support Spurs over Heat because they want to see teams win based on planning, execution, and effort, rather than raw talent.

This shot is in for the ages for the Spurs. Right up there with AJ's bassline jumper, Elliott's memorial day miracle, D-Rob and Kerr.

I get annoyed when people start deducing what a 'true' basketball fan is. By AstroMechPLZ's notion, we should all be supporting the Spurs as a team because the Rockets play iso-harden for half our possessions. It's very contradictory to be a Rocket's supporter and say what you just did... plus, are we going to punish what Lebron, Wade and Bosh can do because they have 'pure raw talent'?

There's no proper way to play the game. After all, it is a game and usually you utilise what you have at your disposal. The Heat have a multitude of great shooters and the best player in the game so of course they are going to run plays through Lebron. Personally, I like watching the Heat play purely because some of the plays they make are jaw dropping and there's nothing more exciting than seeing a superstar in his zone.

Fans of true basketball also don't decide what constitutes a fan of true basketball.

You're either hurling lots of straw men out there and hoping they burn or you need to work on your reading comprehension. Again, I'm just explaining why empirically, more fans tend to root for the spurs than the heat. I'm not judging what a true fan SHOULD prefer, but what most true fans DO prefer.

Personally, you like watching the heat play. Congrats, you're in the minority, and I'm just trying to explain why people like you are in the minority, because Space City/JayGoogle can't seem to comprehend why.

    what are you talking about?

my response (and jaygoogles?) was to gwatson86 to why some people are not rooting for the spurs.

i never said it wasn't ok to root for the spurs nor did i have trouble comprehending why people are rooting for the spurs. i'm just not rooting for a texas team other than the rockets. it's that simple.

If I'm in the minority then why do the Spurs get labelled with the 'boring' brand of basketball and the Heat get so many prime time slots? (Not saying the Spurs are boring, in fact I quite enjoy watching them play)

Personally, I think people aren't rooting for the Spurs because they like the Spurs. A large majority of people are rooting for the heat to lose and the Spurs just happen to be playing them in the final.
