I grew up with the average Houstonian scoffing at hockey like it was a second rate sport. Hockey is the sport that Houston needs, but not the one it deserves right now. (har har)
As a Chicago fan.......Boston scares me. If Boston avoids another collapse in the conference final.......the Cup will be violent. Chicago needs to put LA away tomorrow so we get the final we should have witnessed in 2010...........and yes. Chicago wins 1 in LA........series over......I said it.
So dissapointed in the Penguins, but not even regarding tonights game. Couldn't afford to lose both home games and now they're just about done. SMFH Heckuva game 3 and I just hope Chicago and LA don't go 7 games so whichever team wins the series is fresh enough to beat the Bruins. Any team but the Bruins! *$##@%@ Penguins!
Crazy game. Even as an NHL fan, my heart was racing. Can't imagine being a fan of either team with all the crazy things that happened. Bruins defense is absolutely stellar. 2 goals allowed in 11 periods against the best offensive team in the league. I really didn't know Rusk was as good as he was, whoever has to play him from the west will have their hands full. Yeah I'd say the same. I was one of those people until I moved into a hockey market like Chicago and got to witness the sport in person. There's really nothing like hockey in the playoffs. The playoffs intensity is unmatched by any other north american sport. Eh. The Hawks will have their hands full in game 4 just like game 3. I think it'll definitely be a much more even game than game 3 was, but it'll be tough. One of the two -- either Toews or Kane -- needs to show up on offense because Sharp won't be 100%. Losing Keith definitely hurts defensively, but someone on defense will have to step up there to fill the void. Hope Hjalmarsson is good to go too. This game changes the series dramatically if the Hawks win.
Agreed. I watched a lot of Eastern Conference hockey on Blackhawks off nights........and did not see Boston play this good. Montreal looked like this for a while in the regular season......Pittsburgh did as well. Hell......even Ottawa became a threat......but Boston just played solid and smart. No flash. Not anymore.......they are out to kill. Chicago vs Boston is gonna be a something...........
Great game by Bickell, Towes and Hjalmerrson......Clinch on Saturday and prepare for Boston! Can't wait!!!!!
Defense really stepped up with a man out. Crawford played well after allowing that soft goal. Offense definitely looked better than it did in game 3. Even though Kane stole that one goal from Bickell (who btw has been a beast), I think it'll help him going forward. Hope they close it out on Saturday -- definitely don't want them going back to LA.
I wouldn't be so quick to write the Kings off, but it is looking very likely. Chicago vs Boston is the classic 'unstoppable force vs immovable object.' Much rather watch this than the old floppers vs the young floppers NBA finals.
I don't know if anyone posted this, but it's obligatory. This shot broke Campbell's fibula, and he stays on his feet for the penalty kill before leaving the ice. The crowd's reaction even got me fired up. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h15m87WsCHQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> You see the opposite of this from most modern NBA players.
Yeah I remember that play. At the time I didn't think his injury was as bad as it turned out to be which makes it even crazier that he was able to play for 30-40 seconds on a broken fibula. Much respect to him. And The Bruins are back in the Stanley Cup Final. Didn't think the Pens would get swept coming into the series. Boston will likely be the favorite to win it all with that outstanding defense and goaltending. It'll be tough for either LA or Chicago to score on that team.
Agreed on Boston. They're hot at the right time, which is what it usually takes. I thought Pittsburgh would take them out prior to the series.
I can't believe I just witnessed Boston sweep the Pens. Going into the playoffs I thought these were the two strongest teams and while I wouldn't have been surprised with a Bruins win, I had the series tabbed for seven so seeing a sweep either way was a shock. The Pens had the best pp and offense all season and Boston held them to two goals for the series. Boston seems to have everything clicking at the moment and I can't see the Hawks or the Kings beating them.
