Asik will only be a top 3 center, if he develops an offensive game and more then 1 or 2 players on the court with him play defense for more then one quarter a game. He is already among the best defensive big men, a top flight rebounder, so offense is his only true weakness that keeps him from being up there with the Hibberts, Gasols and Howards.
Uh...top 5 center over....whom, exactly? Marc Gasol Dwight Howard Joakim Noah Tyson Chandler Roy Hibbert Brook Lopez Al Horford Greg Monroe Chris Bosh DeMarcus Cousins
Not that it has been announced, folk just like to think because Dream is a former Rocket all the big men the Rockets have will at some point go to train under him. When the fact is we should all know Dream is trying to run a business and not every player is athletic enough to learn his brand of post play.
look i'm not going to judge the stuff you just posted. i believe he has the work ethic and he'll strive for his goals. i'll wait for the end of next season and i'll get back to you. i don't want to be one of those that were proved wrong by JJ Watt. Crows doesn't taste good but i have to eat it sometimes. One of the most important things is that he doesn't get injured. Just imagine who has to play Center if Asik was injured.
Greg plays the 4. Drummond plays the 5. Bosh true position is the 4. Cousins also plays mostly at the 4
Dude, what? Monroe has been manning the 5 the past 3 years. Drummond was his backup until, what, the last 10 games? Bosh has played center this entire year, just like Garnett. It explains why Indiana nearly beat them because he's a push-over. Ok, now I know you're messing with me. Cousins, a PF. Really? So that makes 2Pat a center then?
Here is the thing about this thread: Asik is talented. However, he is talented on so many different levels. His talents are through his hard work and discipline. He is fortunate enough to be a tall, wide guy. Asik is not a naturally talented guy. There is nothing hidden in him that we need to just "get out." Asik is a product of his determination and "let's get it" mentality. Asik is the anti-Dwight. Dwight is naturally gifted. Dwight has hidden talents that Hakeem could help "get out." That's why Asik is a great compliment or back up to Dwight. Imagine a team having to face Dwight and Asik's production for a full game! Asik is a tough guy. Not Kobe, I am going to rip your heart out and make you my B, kind of tough. The, hit me with a bat and I will get back up wanting more, kind of tough. I think that would serve Dwight very well. We will have a great blend of toughness, discipline, attitude and TALENT if Dwight were to decide to come over here. I hope this does not turn the thread into a Dwight co-existing with Asik thread. I just wanted to point out that I do not find Asik to have "hidden" talent. Just more of a product of his efforts --- not that it matters that much anyway.
