Agreed. Tyrion, Tywin, Cercei, Jaime and even Joffrey play their roles very well. All the actors surrounding Kings Landing are pretty strong, with the exception of Shae. Robb is portrayed as wise and cunning and well liked in the book. In the show, he comes off as a pretty boy who has just gotten lucky. Cat was meant to be disliked, especially in the books. She actually plays her role well, albeit a boring role. I don't get the obsession of Jon Snow. The book portrays him as very loyal and determined. In the show, he comes off quite indecisive. Hopefully its just the production and not his actual acting that is ruining his character. Arya plays her role well, and while she is a well liked character, she brings nothing to the show but what seems like filler. Bran's gang is done very well as is Sansa. If I didn't already have a biased opinion from the book and went strictly from the show, I would probably prefer the Starks gone and Lannisters to prevail.
i think Jorah is a pretty cool character and the actor is great. the older nights watch Mormont was well cast as well. I just cant wait to see who ends up getting the role of oberyn martell
That's how I feel as a TV viewer only. Lannisters have been cunning and sly, and are on a whole way more entertaining than the Starks. Starks have been bland and one-dimensional.
I particularly enjoy The Hound as a character, and it's been one of my little disappointments as a book reader that they definitely cut some stuff out of the Sansa-Hound quasi-relationship. Taking his origin story (about his face) that he himself told Sansa in the books, and giving it to Littlefinger, to me was one of the very few blights on a near-perfect season 1.
Jon's actor is so bad. He doesn't have the acting chops to pull off Jon's quiet nobility, stoicism, and coldness. All he can do is make pained, worried expressions.
I think his character has been poorly written and played. (TV series, can't speak for book) Thus far I've agreed with all the other characters who have mocked him. It didn't make sense when he was allegedly being groomed to be a leader and seemed hand picked by the Lord Commander. Nothing we saw on tv made that seem logical. The only reason I have as a viewer to think highly of him is that he is a Stark.
To hell with Oberyn Martell, let's see who they cast as Arianne Martell. Agreed. In the TV show Jon's a hair commercial. Reminds me of "Due Date": "Wait, wait. Is that a perm?....(laughs)....What kind of dips*** gets a perm these days?"
Do we know what has happened to the Uncle (if I am correct) that the wedding was for? I assumed that he was sliced and diced as well but we did not see it. Or will that be addressed later?
Not really a spoiler, but since a lot of people are sensitive. Spoiler Addressed later, probably on Sunday.
I really want to know but am using restraint to wait for Sunday. I liked both actors and characters so I hope they are still around (non book reader obviously).
In the book he is supposed to be much like Ned which is why he gets hand picked by the Lord Commander, and plus in the book he kind of becomes to main figure of the new recruits he comes into the watch with. He sticks up for them and helps them out. Due to time constraints a lot of that is lost in the show. But that is kind of the background on that. Of course the acting isn't done well so he comes off as being nothing like Ned.
Still shocked from Sunday. Robb and Catelyn should have seen this coming. IMO they should have been thinking what would Tywin's next logical move be? Tywin is shrewd and knew Robb would have to approach Lord Walder. So of course Tywin bought him out first. I know hindsight 20/20, but a brilliant move on the Lannisters and the Starks paid dearly. Does this mean end of the Stark army as well? No I don't want to actually know book readers!
Yep and it's a shame since it was the very scene he did for his audition for the show and it's brilliant:
That was great. It really is too bad that they basically cut the Sansa-Hound relationship. They had him stop her from killing Joffrey, and save her from being raped. But it was a really great thing in the book. Giving the story to Littlefinger made no sense, it lost more than half its power doing it that way.
I think you could say it was Stannis who used the Lord of the Light's power to kill Robb. (Throwing the leeches into the fire).
