The first one is to the enhanced mod which is the one I would recommend as it is more updated than the original one out there. They are working on releasing a full version of the original one so until then the enhanced one is the most popular.

I've heard of this one too and that it has a pretty good following. I've never played CK2 though so I haven't gotten to check it out.

The genius of GRRM is how complex his characters are, like most of us they are all capable of both good and evil. Jamie is probably the single best example of that. Certainly the transformation of he goes through as a person after losing his hand has a lot to do with it but even before there were examples.

Jamie tries to kill an 8 year old boy to hide a secret. That is certainly evil. But earlier in Jamie's life he kills the mad king to save a city. He allowed people to refer to him as oath breaker and king slayer with out telling them the truth that could have swayed their opinion of him. That was a selfless act. Killing his cousin to escape the Stark prison was evil but saving Brienne from being raped prior to losing his hand was honorable. His love for Tyrion was real and with out strings. Jamie is an easy guy to hate but as the show has evolved he has also been an easy guy to forgive and maybe even like. Going back to Harrenhall to save Brienne was noble.

The Hound is another charecter that is definitely evil. He has killed kids and admitted enjoying killing. But even as he is an enemy of the Starks he was arguably the best friend Sansa had after Ned lost his head. He was the one that went back for Sansa after the Lanesters were attacked in the streets. He is even the one that saved the Knight of Flowers from the Mountain's sword during the Tournament of the Hand in season 1. He has actually taken good care of Arya and even saved her from herself at the Red Wedding when he had no reason to.

Cat would have been a saint to me if not for her treatment of Jon Snow.

    Etc, etc, etc...

The complexity of the charecters have really made the series for me.

Anybody else think the ending will be Joffrey, Cersei, and Tywin hanging out in a room killing puppies and kittens laughing at their ownage of the Starks?

Storm of Swords is 2 seasons long.

It'll almost certainly be the cliffhanger at the end of season 4, just like it was at the end of the book.

Also, you should go back and put the word zombie in your spoiler tag, I think that's giving too much away (even though she's not really undead, just resurrected after a prolonged period of being dead).

I'm not so sure the remainder of Storm of Swords is a full season. The book is 80 chapters long and the Red Wedding occurs in chapter 51. I just don't see them doing an entire book for both Seasons 1 and 2 and 50 chapters for Season 3 only to do less than 30 for Season 4. I fully expect Season 4, even if mostly comprised of material from Storm of Swords, to bleed over into Feast For Crows and Dance With Dragons.

Maybe, but keep in mind so much was chopped in season 3 compared to the books. It wouldn't take much to put plenty of substance from the remainder of book 3

What I realized today is that the show made a big mistake. Not with the killing of the people, but with the casting. All of the strong ACTORS to root for are dead. I get that Jon Snow is supposed to be a good guy, but he isn't very powerful character on screen. He's been sort of emo/whiney. Dany is supposed to be a "good" character but again, she has moments where she's awesome but she's not all that strong of an actor.

Cat, Ned, and Robb were all powerful on screen and they all got killed. Some of these other actors that are opposite of the Lannisters are going to have to step up. Heck, even Stannis who is apparently not a "bad" character in the books has been played as delusional, crazy, evil.

I think the actor that plays Tywin Lannister does a damn fine job.

He won me with this scene

Of those three, only Ned was good. Cat was decent (slowly improving) but Robb sucked. He and Jon Snow are equally underwhelming.

Truth is all of Lannister's were cast better and are better actors than the Starks, with the exception of Ned. Their characters are much more interesting too.

To be clear, all of the "bad guys" were well cast. That was kind of my point.

I don't know a single watcher who has an emotional connection with Jon Snow. Only guys like Dany and child actors just don't elicit much emotional connection so Bran is out of luck.

Cat was good (I know book readers apparently don't like her, but general audience does I think) Robb was apparently well liked and Ned was obviously good. I also thought the actor who played the Nights watch that protected Arya was a strong character, Greatjohn Umber was good...but the main good guys just don't elicit strong emotional reactions.

    Exactly.

I think Cannonball may be forgetting just how many huge events take place in the last third of the book. I can easily see it taking up the entire 10 episodes.

EDIT: If they do have some stuff from books 4 or 5, it'll likely be related to the Iron Islands or the continuing misadventures of Theon.

I consider Tyrion a good guy even if he's in the wrong family though.

Six Feet Under was my favorite show ever. Very highly recommend it.

While it wasn't my favorite show, it's excellent. Anyone who hasn't seen it is in for a treat. I really liked the soundtrack, as well, and have season 1 and season 2.

Anecdotal, of course, but I find any connection people have made with Robb to be about the same with Jon. And just about every woman I know that watches the show likes Dany.

In terms of actors, I wouldn't put Robb with the other two you mentioned.

Since obviously the labels of 'good' and 'bad' are a little harder with a lot of these characters, I don't think it's going to be a very big issue. But we'll see.

I think it would have been better to switch the actors playing Jon and Robb. Or just gotten better actors for both of them.

Robert Baratheon was another strong actor that met an untimely death.
