Asik can be moved anytime for a first pick. It doesn't make any sense for the Rockets to salary dump him which is what that is. Especially when the Rockets believe his talent is worth more than the contract he signed.

On the other hand, neutral commentators in the media have opinioned it may take a deal sweetener for the Rockets to move Lin's contract.

It's just a rumor I read. Sure, the Celtics definitely need to give more to the Rockets in that scenario, picks, Sullinger, TWill, whatever? 3 teams trade?

Man, I do not want to lose Asik unless we are getting Josh Smith. I just don't know.

Been looking around at other team's forums and at least there's a lot of interest from fans for T-Rob even for future first rounds, not sure what management is thinking though. We can always sweeten it with future first round or Delfino, Garcia or T-Jones thrown in.

That would be an epically bad move. Trade Asik and TRob for Pierce, who we only plan to waive? You only do that if you know Dwight AND someone else has committed.

Pierce has a $5m buyout, meanwhile the celtics have some about $3m in non guaranteed contracts

Please don't post trash from other boards. If you don't have a link and you aren't an insider consider it trash.

And I really don't get your someone is interested comment. The "rumor" you posted means getting rid of TRob will cost us Asik and millions in a buyout. Ouch. Just because Morey got an extention doesn't give him free reign to make stupid trades.

Great now it takes Asik to dump Robinson's salary. And we get nothing but $5M dead money in return.

Remember when Morey did the TRob deal and a few GMs were reportedly pissed off they did not even know TRob was available?

Morey flips it around and makes him available to everyone.

My guess would be Morey will try to get a good 1st round pick in the 2015-16 draft. There's no room next year. The 2014-15 draft should be very strong, so GMs probably reluctant to give up anything that year.

The 2015-16 draft is ideal also because TJones/DMo will be in the final year of their rookie deal, and could be traded or a cheap rookie-scale replacement may be needed.

It shouldn't be hard to get a deal for TRob. To get equal value? No. But if you consider it 2Pat ahead of his final year of rookie scale + fillers ... it'll be a decent deal.

Maybe rox get a Celtic 1st + cash to buyout pp, and if the play is for d12 and jsmith, trade tjones to ATL in a s&t for smith? Clearing out Asik/trob clears about 12mil. You'd need about 4.5mil of that to sign d12 outright. Jsmith agrees to sign for 9mil and then we could still be under the cap enough to absorb the differential between tjones and smith. Unlikely smith agrees to 9mil but possible I think.....DM would only do that to preserve capspace and do the celts a solid by getting them Asik instead of atl.

id rather do this trade if we are just dumping asik

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

I am sure toronto would love to get asik and a high upside guy like trob for Baragni, and we could dump of whites contract at the same time.

Barg would probably be a much better player playing beside howard.

Celtics trade scenarios are always stupid, remember the Doc Rivers ones? they're never true. Do people realise how ridiculous it is to accept pierce with a $5m buyout, when waiving robinson would only cost $3.5m to waive?

I can see someone like Charlotte offering a top 55 2nd round protected, expires in 1 year (ergo nothing) for Robinson, White and the $2.1m cash we have left.

Yah it might be nice to trade trob to cleveland for this years 2nd rounder 31 and a second rounder next year.

I am sure we can at least get that.

Then move white to charolette or the kings give them 2.1 million, and a 2nd rounder if we have to.

Bargnani is a terrible player, not only is he bad at defense, he's bad at offense as well, he's almost the worst value contract in the nba, the anti chandler parsons.

    Hey Carl,
You seem to be going pretty far out on a limb with this whole T-Rob thing. What happens when they announce this week or next a trade has been finalized. The prize is Dwight right? Are you always so negative or just with T-Rob? Don't do anything rash if we get Dwight because of this deal, ok?

you nailed on. just looking at this board, you would assume we were trading one of top 3 rookies.

I can see the spurs looking at robinson as well, of course they can't do anything right now because they're still playing.

Turning high character guys with question marks into useful players is literally their forte, just look at Danny Green.

True, at face value the idea is bogus. But dm isn't stupid, he wouldn't leave value on the table. IF he were to deal with the celts, I'm sure some assets (rooks, picks, non guaranteeds, etc) would be coming back that keeps him flexible for 2-3 moves down the line.
