You're right. He has had a very good run over the past half month, but I am just not blown away by his stuff and lack of control at times. Also, if you are referring to when I called him garbage multiple bad 1 out appearances blowing leads, then I still stand by that. He is on a good stretch, and trust me, I want to see the Astros do well, I am just not a fan of him. Nothing against him, just rather see other players. If you are going to note his good stretch, it would be equally fair to put wait on the bad stretch as well.
I was reading your thread earlier this morning where you had listed your expectations of our current roster. Castro has even surpassed my expectations this season. Right now our most like all-star is Castro or Norris.
It is certainly accurate to say his performance sucked in April, but since then he has been very solid.
I will say that his .325 BABip should hopefully go down. My beef with him was that I wanted to see other players. I would like to be clear, though, that if he turns out to be the May pitcher instead of the April pitcher, I will gladly eat crow. Relief pitchers are oddly one of my favorite parts of the game, and it was easy to hate on this guy, and I did. With Stoffel in AAA and Cisnero doing so well, I think it was more the fact that Ambriz pitched in the high pressure situations that irritated me. That being said, Ambriz has been pleasantly great these past few weeks, and I like seeing it. Also, I just appreciate how the bullpen has been effective as well... and the starting pitching. It's easy to like what is going on for us on the bump right now.
In my opinion ERA is a really poor way to value a reliever, as one or two bad outings can skew the numbers in a big way. There are a ton of stats out there today obviously, but when I look at a relief pitcher I want to know how often he is effective vs how often is he not effective. Ambriz was not effective often in April but since the start of May he has been good in 13 of 15 appearances, so that is very good. Now i'm only going on numbers here as I do not get to watch the games, so obviously not being able to see it you miss a lot
Serious harm to 1.1 for next year 2 runs on 3 hits and the guys get the sweep; awesome! Veras does make it interesting though, doesn't he?
Pretty amazing. Well, this figure is. Let it sink in. Zero walks. Twenty-four strikeouts. 2 wins. He's a contributor for The Crawfish Boxes.

Astros K/BB ratio last two games at the plate: 24/0. The Marlins are about to put a stranglehold on the #1 pick in 2014 with probably the worst offense this century.
The current 5 man rotation has actually been pretty solid. Bedard is one of our few real trade candidates. He is just one year removed from a 3.63 ERA, if he keeps up his recent performance we may be able to actually get a prospect of some value for him. Lyles may finally be developing into the solid starter we thought he was gonna be. He's still just 22, seems like he's been here forever. Won't even turn 23 until the offseason. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of Norris.
Office chuckle inducer. As bad as we think the Astros play/current situation is, at least we're not in the Angels' boat. If I were an Angels fan, I think I would be ready to lemming myself off a ledge somewhere. Props to the Astros for not giving a **** about their current situation and going out and having a little fun and pulling off some wins.
