After the Justin Bieber jab you probably had saved up from the 2nd post, you couldnt at least throw in a "Larry Dicker" along with that knock? Just to keep it accurate in my posting activity timeline .... I wrote that last message before reading this last page, where THAT comment was. And just now added that to this message I kinda figured the way the posting pattern went, maybe you'd be "that" type to go "there"...didnt WANT to. But it kinda came about on its own. Though ... who am I anyway to say stuff, I'm just some Larry DORKer type I guess. "Welcome back, Dierk. Welcome in, Reid."
Over here in Dodgers country, this guy Manny Mota 45 years part of the organization. Hanging around all long sucking off them... Why's this career PINCH hitter not EVER amongst the elite get so well respected? Acting like he's some Willie Stargell. His name gets mentioned in a campy movie scene and its fans wanting to massage his scrotum - Whats these things count for?
It's so nice to have a president that "gets it." Houston Astros @astros 2m Astros to honor fallen Houston Firefighters with special HFD patch on uniforms this week vs. BAL (Tues-Thu). Houston Astros @astros 1m Also, local/national firefighters receive free tickets for immediate family for this week's games (Tue-Thu) at Minute Maid Box Office.
That is GREAT that they are doing that for the Fire Fighters, what a terrible week it has been for them. Any hope that a change at the top (or close to the top) would help the TV deal get done has certainly faded though . . . . .
Defn a step in the right direction. But you would kind of think, would any fire fighter's family go to a game with the incident happening so recently? It's like I'm celebrating by going to a game, while other mourn over the loss of fallen firefighters.
As disappointed and disconnected as I feel with the current state of the Astros, and not having been the biggest fan of Dierker as a coach, I can not fathom the ass-holery displayed by Granville in this thread.
None of them that work at the stations where the fallen were from would likely go. But there are thousands of firefighters out there, and for most of them, while they are saddened by what happened, most don't personally know the fallen and would probably be open to an offer like this. I do not like Jim Crane at all, none . . .but this is a good deal that he is doing for some of the most deserving men and women alive
One of my best friends is a fire fighter in The Woodlands. These guys take it very personally when they lose one of their own, their station or not.
Absolutely they do, I have a nephew and a few other relatives that are firefighters, so I do understand how tight knit a group it is. They are not all staying in and removing themselves from society during this period though, to think that none of them could see their way to go to a game is not realistic though, in my opinion.
Completely agree. I'd be absolutely shocked if my friend passed up the chance to go to a game for free.
Like I care what you or the Dierker fanatics think. I post my opinion, people post back to me. I respond to those post. Boo Hoo. If you want some ass-holery, Dierker wasn't a Coach....you're disconnected with baseball jargon too.
Agreed, a family friend of ours was good friends since grade school with Firefighter Beebe. Folks that run in to burning buildings risking their lives to save (and in this case sacrificing their own life) others is deserving of any form of respect bewstowed upon them. God Bless.
