I support your list making. This thread has gotten out of hand. I read the books years ago and I still find all the book-talk annoying.
Martin has always said he uses a lot of inspiration from history and human history is terrible especially when it comes to struggles for power. Last night’s episode was one of the most brutal things I’ve seen on a show. Outside of some from The Wire, this was probably one of the worse emotional punches I’ve had. Those last scenes really stuck with me, pretty much ruined any enjoyment of Mad Men afterwards. Curious about Black Fish and Edmure, hope somebody makes it out alive.
How about you stop quoting the stuff that you deem spoilers? If I have those guys on ignore, but you quote them and tell them "don't tell me that", you aren't helping the issue
Is this the first show in the history of television () where the good guys always finish last/dead? I'm just wondering if, when we get to the end, Tywin Lannister is going to be one of the last standing with this evil grin on his face like "all my evil plans came true". It takes balls to write a show where the perceived good guys drop like flies throughout while the perceived bad guys are always ending up on top or the ones who are two steps ahead. This show doesn't feel like it is going to have a happy ending when all is said and done. Yes, it took me until now to arrive at that conclusion. lol
I would be okay with that. Every scene Charles Dance is in is gold. He out plays everyone in every conversation.
I think Game Of Thrones is just fantastic at making us care about the characters and have STRONG opinions about them
While Robb was a more noble character than say Joffrey, let's not forget that the reason that all of this has happened is his own betrayal of a sworn oath. Walder Frey was right about Robb. He betrayed him for lust.
The red wedding has successfully rustled the **** out of my jimmies. Holy **** this show makes me so angry... And I love it.
Nobody knows how it's all going to end, not even the book readers. But GRRM has made it clear that there are no guarantees of a happy ending. That's not to say there won't be one, but he has a story to tell and if that story doesn't have a shiny, happy ending then he's not going to be forced into writing one just because that's what's "supposed" to happen. I do sometimes get tired of watching movies where the lead character is put in some dangerous situation but you already know everything is going to work out because, hey it's Iron Man. The beheading of Ned Stark, the guy set up to be the main protagonist of the series up until that point, and now the murder of his wife and oldest son, the heir to his seat who was supposed to avenge his father's death, all serve to prove that nobody is safe. You can no longer simply assume that everything will work out in the end, that the Starks will ultimately triumph over the Lannisters. It makes the future more ambiguous but also a hell of a lot more intriguing. You can't make any assumptions.
Yes both Robb and Cat blew it by both of their decisions. Cat letting Jaime Lannister go caused the Karstarks to leave, and Robb not deciding to marry the Frey girl sealed their doom. For non-book readers how does this episodes shock factor compare with Dexter's season finale 4 and Adriana getting taken out to the woods in the Sopranos?
He is definitely the PERFECT Tywinn. I just love the looks he gives people. . . it is cold and full of menace and it just says. . SHUT THE ***** UP I'M TYWINN B*TCH!! I enjoy his scenes as much as anyone now. I like the way he just handles people . .. he isn't rude, crude or overly threatening but he definitely lets you know . .. you *ss is his for the taking Rocket River
only 2 emotional punches from a television show prior to this episode of G.O.T for me. the wire, when dukie is injecting that syringe, and when claire is driving off and they flash to the future in 6ft under I'll probably watch this episode a 3rd time later this week.
Just.... WOW! Probably the biggest "OH, ****!!! " moment on tv for me ever. Can someone explain why Robb's wife was suspected to be a spy? I must have missed something.
She was perpetually writing letters in the show and her seduction of Robb. Also, Tywin has mentioned that he has/had informants in Robb's camp (Tywin knew Jamie had escaped and such). true love being a lie seems like a very GoT thing to do
You guys do realize that spoiling other TV shows (Dexter and The Wire) in this thread is just as bad as the people posting spoilers for GoT?
