Not an expert on transportation, but from what I can tell, Musk has essentially anounced nothing about his 'Hyperloop' beyond extremely vague teasers, so who knows? Again, not an engineering expert, but.I think the practical problems with creating a near perfect vacuum in a 3000 mile long coninuous stretch of tunnel would be daunting. One tiny little millimeter hole somewhere in some stretch of the Rockies could pretty quickly make the entire thing unusable. And think what a terrorist target it would make.
