i think we should keep castro honestly its tough to find a good hitting catcher whos average at defense.
I'd definitely trade Altuve, but I'd want to be very high on who we were acquiring. I mean, you wouldn't turn down Profar for Altuve, but you wouldn't trade Altuve for a deal like we got for Bourn.
he's fun to root for, and i'm a fan, but realistically he's nothing more than an unspectacular 2nd baseman who hits at a pretty good clip but without any power. and we have good organizational depth up the middle. i'd have no problem with them trading him if the price was right.
For baseball reasons I'd happily trade him, but for business reasons you have to worry about the backlash that will come. This org hasn't exactly endeared itself to fans, and trading Altuve would never be viewed in light of baseball reasons. He's an all star. Good luck convincing fans that you needed to trade a young all star to help the organization.
Yeah, he's very average. Right now he has the 13th best OPS out of the 19 2nd basemen who qualify in stats. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/position/2b/sort/OPS
IMHO I think Ed Wade spent all his time and effort trying to move Pence (which looks a good deal for us) that he didn't put in the same effort with trading Bourn. It's unfortunate because with all the rumors swirling at the time, the Nationals, Phillies, Braves and Indians were looking for a CF. Here is a link that came out about the trade, I'll always wonder who was on the other end of the call Wade got. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/anatomy-of-a-baseball-trade-10202011.html
haha, just messin with you. and i agree. still gotta always give easy eddie respect for the pence trade though. i sound like a broken record always bringing it up, but i'll just never understand it.
Not that we got great value for Bourn, but Clemens looks good out of the pen, Oberholtzer has regained some form in AAA, but that's about it. Got to give Wren credit for getting Bourn without having to give up any top prospects.
i had looked back a few weeks ago...of the people that we (the fans) had interest in possibly acquiring from the braves, i think mike minor would have been the only one that is a big impact player, and who knows if he ever would have been a possibility.
Yeah Delgado has struggled, Vizcaino had TJ surgery (I think), and I don't think they would have given up Minor as well.
Proving that he can pitch on the road as well as he does at home will go a long way to helping his trade value.
yup hes been the best pitcher at home since 2011....thats crazy seeing how MMP is a big hitters park.
