Any guard that can barely shoot .400 in the NBA shouldn't even be in discussion for a starting job in the league.

lol he's basically monta ellis except he shoots with the left hand. Dude hasnt accomplished anything and wants max money. You saw how much better Golden State got after getting rid of a volume scoring point guard.

I like Brandon Jennings as a street ballplayer, but as a nba player he has a lot of developing to do. I would probably keep Lin over Jennings based on coachability, I can see him fitting in but if I'm the Rockets it's no way in hell I pay him max money. He is small and hasn't proved he can run a successfull NBA team. Taking D12 @ max money is scary enough!

Jennings is very young and has plenty room to grow. I wouldn't be against getting him at all just don't know if he could fit the team. Off the bench manu role would be awesome and he could easily be best 6th man. Things didn't work well past season for him but he has a good future and far from garbage. He's going to want more than Rockets are going to afford especially after they get Howard or next position of need.

Honestly, at his point I'd trade Lin for freaking Juwan Howard just to get rid of his cap hold. Having said that, no way I pay a player even more money to play worse. At least Jeremy shot over .400. What case could you possibly make to say Jennings is a better player? Aaron Brooks would score just as many points on that many attempts and he's our 3rd string point guard.

For $5m per season I'd take Jennings and let him develop off the bench. Playing time has not improved any of his well known weaknesses, and he is not particularly good at anything. Doesn't seem to be a hard worker. Had professional experience before even getting to the NBA.

Overall a disappointing career. I'd be willing to take a chance on him at around $5m. Right now, he's not as good as Lin and he's asking for more money than Lin.

$5M why? When you've got Lin, Beverley and Brooks at point and a max contract SG.

I'd trade Lin because he sucked a large part of this season AND was outplayed by 2 backup guards (Shaun Livingston, Patrick Beverly). He's simply not a starting caliber NBA point guard. If your comparing who's the better player, its clearly Jennings. Both aren't elite. But to say Lin's a better player is so stupid its laughable lol.

    Good points.

I agree that backing up Lin would be good for Jennings. He could develop humility and a good work ethic by training with Lin. But ultimately I like Beverley much better. Giving Jennngs a contract more than $1m (what Bev is paid) to be a back-up to Lin would just be p***ing money away and take up valuable cap space.

Jennings is useless to the Rockets and may even be detrimental in terms of an undesired cap hit

    Correction

Jeremy Lin is useless to the Rockets and acquiring just about anybody is a upgrade. If Lin put up 17pts & 6 assist on a bad team like Milwaukee you guys would declare him the next CP3.

    Jeremy lin

Jennings is kind of getting underrated on most basketball forums. The amount of hate he gets is kinda bizarre. He is an average point guard who should probably be more of a shooting guard considering he doesn't have a PG mindset. He's had like 4 years "running" his team and his stats have not improved despite getting all the opportunities by being made a starter since day 1. He's worth the MLE but he would be a terrible fit in this offense.

You clearly don't understand how basketball works. Look dude, I'm not even a fan of Jeremy Lin. Having said that, he played better than Jennings. 15 points on .44 is much better than 17 on .30. That alone is a worthy enough case, let alone passing and defense. You have to look at more than just points per game or you are going to look stupid. Are you even aware that the Bucks were statistically better when Jennings was off the floor? Why would you pay for a guy like that?
