    Allegedly due to academic violations.

    wow. Notre Dame Dumbster Fire.

Lose your star QB who led team undefeated.
Team was highly praised by the media until they took an alabama beat down.
    Manti lost his girlfriend.. sigh.
Player allegedly raped college girl backstory posted by own alumni... wow.

This school is a nut house.

The best part about this is that with Golson out of the picture, the favorite to be the ND starter in fall camp is none other than Tommy Rees, the quarterback that just. won't. go. away.

The situation involving Gunner Kiel is interesting as well. The noted impatient flip-flopper (he committed and de-committed from both Indiana and LSU late in the recruiting game before settling on ND as a freshman) transferred from ND to Cincinnati in the offseason because he figured he wasn't going to play with Golson there.

But late in the night, an article started making the rounds that detailed how Kiel could transfer back to ND without any real issue. LINK HERE

ND also has Andrew Hendrix and Malik Zaire, the school's most recent hot prospect, so it may not end up being that big of a deal.

Golson cheated/plagiarized on his final and was forced to withdraw from the school for academic reasons. The reasoning distinction is important; it means he cannot be on scholarship for ANY school in the fall. There is some chatter that he wants to return to Notre Dame in the Spring.. but we'll see.

This is obviously a big loss for ND. Golson was a stud-in-the-making.. and this season's success basically rested with him.

I wouldn't be so quick to pencil in Tommy "Turnover" Rees though. The early talk has been that Chuck Martin, the OC, prefers Andrew Hendrix over the course of a season. They believe Rees is a better short-term solution. This probably won't shake itself out until camp though.

Behind those two, we have a true freshman QB with potential and that's it. Looks like we'll be taking two QBs this recruiting cycle, unless Wes Lunt transfers here.

Gunner Kiel will not be coming back. He didn't get along with Martin and expressed as much when leaving. Bridges have been burned -- good luck at Cincinnati.

The rumor about Golson originally also involved Davaris Daniels, our leading WR. So far the only thing reported about him is that he is still enrolled -- it is still possible he could also face some type of discipline.

Bad off-season just keeps getting worse -- I don't want to talk about how our 5* DL recruit has gotten cold feet and now won't report to camp.

Sounds like Tommy Rees is in many ways ND's version of Case McCoy.

Gunner is a b**** - you don't want that guy leading your team. Committed to IU, then LSU, then ND, and transfer to Cincinnati.

I think Kelly has done an outstanding job at ND - recruiting has improved, and they should be an annual 10 win team from here on out.

I really really really like Malik Zaire. Guy could be the next Teddy Bridgewater. Amazing potential.

If this were any other school this would be swept under the rug. Cheating is pretty rampant in college. Kind of pointless to suspend a guy who brings millions into the university.

I simply do not understand why fans think this way, at all.

Notre Dame just kicked their star QB out of school for CHEATING on an exam and you say ND is a nut house for doing so.

bullsh!t. Keep your crap ass recruiting tactics to your huge state schools. Don't understand how you could call ND "dumb" for expelling Golson.

This is a prime example of why ND continues to be the best college football program in the country, because of it's academic integrity. I'm willing to bet Alabama would not have expelled Golson.

Notice how ND doesn't really throw him under the bus, publically, either. We don't do that.

Same with Eddie Vanderdoes. We don't really know to full story behind him possibly not showing up in June. ND won't tell you if it is for academic reasons.

    LongTimeFan,

I went to my nephew's graduation a week ago. Didn't hear anything about Vanderdoes. Thanks for the news. Any updates on him is much appreciated.

    Cheers!

I don't think he was bashing the school. Just a lot of crazy stuff in regards to the football program recently.

Big time progams have kicked cheaters off their team as well.

If "the school is a nut house" has another meaning, I'm willing to apologize. NCAA football is low on my list of sports, so I don't really care that much when people criticize ND.

I have a question for everyone. I went to the ND graduation last weekend (before Memorial Day weekend). I was somewhat surprised that the Valedictory speech or any other student speech I saw (at the departmental commencements) never mentioned anything about school sports spirit. I thought the student speakers when talking about shared experiences would mention school spirit and going to games.

Is this common at other powerhouse sports schools to not mention sports during commencement, at all? Basketball at Duke, NC, Indiana...football in the SEC and Texas schools/Oklahoma. Sports is a huge part of the student experience. But they only mentioned academic experiences and parties, etc. I mean, we were sitting in Notre Dame Stadium, and all the graduates were on the field.

    Simply put: He Gone.

Some people think UCLA kept recruiting him after he signed his LOI and has talked him into not going to ND.

EV is academically cleared to enroll at ND -- it is not an admissions issue. The rumor was that he asked the ND staff a question about an issue (what that question/issue is nobody knows), and was told they would look into it and get back to him. He signed his LOI, they found out the answer and got back to him, and he didn't like it. Obviously what I read is from the ND side, but the story wasn't conveyed in a manner to suggest that he was ever misled.

He asked ND to release him. They refused. He appealed to the NCAA; ND against refused to release him and I believe the NCAA sides with them. It certainly wouldn't be good precedent to release players who sign a LOI -- I can only imagine how it would open the floodgates to post-NSD recruiting. I think most schools, other than UCLA, are siding with ND. I believe FSU is going through the same situation with one of their star LBs.

Bottom line.. most/everyone believes he is going to end up at UCLA.

He broke his silence today to release a statement ... that he will be releasing a statement in the near future.

Never a dull moment with ND!

    So, LongTimeFan,

I thought you'd enjoy this. My older brothers live and die by ND football. One of them actually posted so regularly on the main fan site that he got kicked out and started his own (he's an argumentative lawyer who didn't know the dynamics or web bbs ****)....lols. (just for the record, I never did that here).

So I asked him and another older brother in a text message..."What's up with Eddie Vanderdoes" the younger responded

...You have to ask older brother. He knows more than me.

And older brother (who runs an ND fan site) said only

    "Vander Doesn't"

    haha

My oldest brother does. but not the second oldest that I was referring to. The oldest in Dallas is the one who produced a son that we all talked into going to Notre Dame. We talked him into turning down Rice and a full scholarship to Malibu / Pepperdine. Lols

I've posted many pictures of ND in the last year. I was in South Bend the day ND became ranked #1. Gorgeous whether for an afternoon game, then watching OSU and KSU go down later with 20 undergrads at my nephews house. glorious.

Will his possible return cause QB prospects to avoid ND?
