I think it would certainly help...can't hurt. But it still has to be at a price south of what they've been trying to get.
Can we just sell the Astros and keep the Rockets? Astros blow and are an embarrassment to this city. Id rather watch the Rockets lose every single game than the Astros win every single game.
We'll have a lot more national TV games next season, especially if we sign a big name free agent. At this point, I don't really care if a CSN deal ever gets done.
If you are correct, looks like Jim Crane and Les Alexander both made the same huge error in judgement and it's biting them hard. Too bad so sad. Both Crane and Les should have been involved in negotiations as soon as they broke down and well before CSN started their moronic, self-impaling ad campaign.
Houston could have fan fever if our team ownerships understood anything about continuity. We root for a new set of players every year, especially in the Rockets case. Look at the Spurs. A few of their role players change, but even fringe San Antonio fans can tick off the team's nucleus without hesitation. I was hoping Dish Network, in my case, would finally reach an agreement. However, since they haven't and most likely won't, I either have to ditch Dish and sign with Comcast or move back to San Antonio so I can watch via League Pass (and catch ALL the Spurs games for free).
Has nothing to do with continuity and everything to do with All-Star players. SA won the lottery for Tim Duncan, the best player of his generation and one of the top 10 ever, and drafted two fringe All-Stars in Parker and Ginobili. Pretty easy to have continuity when your nucleus is championship level. In the case of the Rockets over the past few years (until this year), there wasn't one player at that level. If they stood pat, they were going nowhere. The reason Spurs fans are "better" is because they've had a contending team. If the Rockets get similar All-Star talent and are a contender, you'll see that enthusiasm build here. It's about winning... nothing else matters. No one cares if you know the players and they're an 8/9 seed every year.
I think that it would put more pressure on them if the Rockets signed another Big Name player. I'm just sayin...
Crane is beggining to make Uncle Drayton look not so bad. At least when Drayton was around, the Rockets and Astros were on TV.
True, look at all the *****ty Heat fan that came out of nowhere now that they have the best player in the world... When you're winning it all, it's ALL good.
It sucks but oh well. I'll never switch back to Comcast so I will just have to continue streaming. Is there a way to add a poll to this thread. I'm curious who actually switched to Comcast since all this mess started. I'm also curious to see who kept their carrier and who chose to cancel cable altogether.
I say within a month of the Rockets signing a big name free agent, all these cable companies are going to start meeting with CSN people to get a deal done.
