Dont discount the Dan Fegan/Chandler Parsons move as well. If Morey pulls this off, I can guarantee you folks like Mark Cuban will definitely do everything they can to prove the Rockets were tampering.
He also stated hes heard from multiple sources that Harden and Dwight have been talking quite a lot since the off season. Like nearly everyday sorry Kobe he doesn't seem interested.
Thanks for the info. But it's not new. Check out my sig. That was after several posts saying Howard is going for 3 + 5 max.
Howard hasn't improved his offensive game in like 6 years, I don't see him starting now. It's funny how Laker fans (from some of comments I've seen on articles) don't seem to want him back, yet Rocket fans are drooling over him. If we sign him I'm going to have to figure out how I root for my least favorite player in the league. As life long Rockets fan, I will always root for him, but Dwight will take some fun out of it for me personally.
Morey and McHale will be camped out front DH12 house and be the first at trying to sign DH12 once the clock strikes midnight July 1st.
I was multi-tasking and worded it wrong. What I meant to say that's new was that he stated the Rockets are willing to give him the 3 year guaranteed with player option on 4th year and let him to sign for a new 5 year max contract with the bird right. Not the concept of the 3+5 contract.
1) players are free to talk about free agency as long as they are not acting on behalf of teams. This was publicly stated by David Stern in light of Lebron and bosh going to Miami 2) everyone's knows what Dwight's super max number is. Morey needed to free space by shipping out T-Rob to make a run at Dwight. Harden didn't need to tell him that.
There's always that time in sports where your team gets a player you may not have liked in the past. Heck, we enjoyed the "Enthusiasm", of a player who went into the stands and punched a fan. The fact of the matter is, Howard would make this team better. You also have to hope that our team will have a better affect on Howard than the Lakers and Magic. It happened with Artest. We have good role models on this team, (Royce white for the love of everything doesn't count), and Dwight being surrounded by this kind of team would be the best thing for him. It's like Clemens when he came to the Astros...Andy when he came to the stros...you learn to enjoy what they bring to the team, and care less about a characters past if he gets the job done with out drama. That was one of the main reasons I really hope(d) Garcia would sign for a lot less, and join us for one more run, but I'm sure some playoff teams that may want some veteran leadership that can actually benefit them in some way will throw more money at him.
Here's the video from First Take w/ Stephen A and Skip -- including the "James and Dwight talk everyday" and "Houston can offer a 3 year max deal" comments: <script src="http://player.espn.com/player.js?playerBrandingId=4ef8000cbaf34c1687a7d9a26fe0e89e&adSetCode=91cDU6NuXTGKz3OdjOxFdAgJVtQcKJnI&pcode=1kNG061cgaoolOncv54OAO1ceO-I&width=576&height=324&externalId=espn:9328887&thruParam_espn-ui[autoPlay]=false&thruParam_espn-ui[playRelatedExternally]=true"></script>
Man, if he comes here, and the additional bonus that it'll basically crater the Lakers for the next couple of seasons, it's going to be sweet.
Yes, that's been the concept all along. Houston can only offer him 4 years with a player option after 3. He would opt out at age 30 and sign a second max deal. Hence TWO MAX NO TAX. The concept of that was always structured this way. Why would he take only a 3 year deal? Anyways, I'm glad the national media is finally starting to get it. SAS isnt the quickest of cats or the smartest of cookies.
Howard's personality meshes very well with Houston's identity. Our guys are all about having fun on the court. Dwight is a gentle giant, who would fit in well with our lockeroom. The media scrutinty will not be there, as the major sport in Houston is by far FOOTBALL. I still think we are getting our hopes up a little much right now. I feel that there is a 60/40 shot he goes back to LA.
I knew they talked a bit here and there and read the few twitter feeds but everyday seems bro-ish. I bet the talks during the All Star break were like man Dwight with your help we could win a chip, now elevated to hey bro what you doing? Ahhh just fishing bro, still waiting on that flight to Houston... lol.
I love ESPN slant: "STEAL" Howard.... like the Lakers have ownership of all players in the league who are free agents.
