They have the world's tallest skyscraper, make a picture where you lay down with your legs split and facing the sky, with the tower coming out of the middle. Then make it a postcard and send it to all your family and friends, co-workers, boss...and the ladies. Profit.
Can you go by our manufacturing plant there and slap some people around for me? They're f***ing killing me lately.
Never. I just know that its frigging expensive as hell there...and hot. Two things which would make me absolutely miserable
Air conditioning FTW. A lot of nice places are expensive as hell. You gotta pay the cost to be the boss.
Arent you still in high school? Im guessing its just as fun as going to Vegas while under 21. NOT FUN.
Dubai has gotten so ****ed up a friend of mine who lived there for a year told me that the really rich ass girls actually sell themselves out as prostitutes just to boast to each other about who is worth more, not for the money.
Even if I was loaded Dubai would still be boring as ****. Why would I want to go to the most forced, artificially grown place in the world?
For some crazy ass reason, vast areas of the city don't even have sewage plumbing (all these shiny new skyscrapers like the Burj included), the sewage wastes had to be trucked
when you get tired of all the hookers as these guys are saying, I had a blast at the water park. Supposedly one of the biggest in all of the world.
*BUMP* Anyone else have anything to share (i.e. what to do, what NOT to do, etc)? I'll gladly take any tips for Abu Dhabi too! I'll be in both cities for a couple days--first time in either--and though I'll have some relatives showing me around, any additional advice would be appreciated! (Since it is my first time, I'm planning on doing most of the big/typical stuff naturally: Burj Khalifa, the mosque in Abu Dhabi, maybe a desert safari, etc.)
Ferrari world/park....can't remember what it was called. The mall to snowboard. Other than that, the obvious places to sight see etc....
Not sure what kind of traveller you are, if you share your interests I could probably give you better recommendations! Dubai: - Have breakfast at JBR Walk on the beach. - If you're here for a weekend, head down to Kite Beach for some awesome beach activities and great overall vibes. For something a bit more luxurious check out Rixos Hotel on Palm Island. - Beware of desert safaris. They are fun, but don't expect any sort of cultural experience as they promise. It's largely a tourist trap and the food offered tends to be really poor quality. The dune bashing part is lots of fun if it's your first time and you're part of a group. - If you're interested in the more old school parts of old Dubai, check out the gold souk (also a good place to buy gold relatively well priced). - To see the most beautiful part of ancient Dubai, check out Bastakiya aka Al Fahidi Fort. Really beautiful area with renovated super old buildings and a mixture of traditional and hipster art houses, coffee shops and souvenir stores. Bastakiya is in Bur Dubai. - For Northern Arabian food, check out Zaroob restaurant on Shk Zayed Road. For local food check out Marhabani on Jumeirah Beach Road or Mamatani Cafe in Town Center also on Jumeira Beach Road. Turkish food at Turkish Village and Persian food at Abshar Restaurant both on Jumeira Beach Road. For some of the best Japanese food in the world, check out Zuma in DIFC (super pricey though). Indian food is really great at India Palace (in Garhoud) or Gazebo (in DIFC, closes at 4pm). For high end Indian, check out the contemporary Indian Restaurant at Armani Hotel. For some contemporary casual fusion food, check out Clinton Street Bakers or La Serre both in Downtown Burj Khalifa area near Dubai Mall. Bu Qtair for awesome UAE fresh catch street style seafood - massively popular, super cheap, located near Jumeira Beach Hotel. Aprons and Hammers (Le Meridien) offer some delicious seafood, a bit pricey but you're really getting what you pay for here. If you tell me what kind of restaurants you prefer, I can tell you exactly where to go. - Nightlife I'm not sure what you're into but some of the most popular casual hangouts are Barasti Beach, Nassimi Beach, lots of places on JBR walk, Buddha Bar is semi formal, Koubba Bar or Bahri Bar in Madinat Jumeirah are casual. For clubs, I recommend either Cirque Du Soir, VIP Room or Crystal@Raffles. For a bar with an awesome view, go to the bar on the 51st floor of the Emirates Towers. If the weather is good, there's a bar called 360 where you're far out at a bar with nothing but water around you, great music too. - If you have kids and/or you're into shopping, visiting Dubai Mall is a must. I personally hate going there because it's so crowded but there's just so much to do there for both kids and adults that it may warrant visiting. - If you're visiting Burj Khalifa, I think it may be better to book your tickets online asap. There are a lot of tourists in Dubai right now and sometimes you won't be able to get them on the day you planned. Have a look: http://www.burjkhalifa.ae/en/observationdeck/ticketinformation.aspx Let me know what kind of activities you're looking for in Abu Dhabi, I've been living here for about 9 months now and I can give you lots of recommendations for there too.
