Well. if we make room only then we can sign Howard and paul. once we get Howard it will make easier to get Paul.
i highly doubt we can get anything from his trade. first round? highly suspect unless we add more assets to the deal. his weakness was exposed during short period time with us. if i can pinpoint his weakness after a few games he played for us during the season, how do you expect other team gms don't see it? his is not like a couple years from ready. he needs at least 4 year playing time in any low level league. after that, we might be able to talk if he has potential or not.
I'm not sure exactly of the financials, but if CP3 and Howard are truly targeted, then the transaction that make the most sense are signing CP3 with the cap room and SnT for Howard using Lin and Asik. Lin and Asik would fill two needs for the Lakers. Clippers would have no use for Asik since Deandre is there. They could probably use Lin, but the Rockets would have no obligation to give the Clippers anything. After using the cap space to sign CP3, the Rockets would need to trade some contracts to get Howard at max.
Yes, your plan seems reasonable, except that you presuppose the Rockets want Howard and Paul equally. I suspect the Rockets no.1 prize is Howard and want to secure him first through and outright signing. They'll worry about Paul after that. It's difficult to force a trade when the teams know you cannot acquire their player without their help. That goes for both teams.
Morey came out the other day and said there are literally about 20 moves that would have to be made to be possible, and its just not very likely at all. Lets just stop dreaming. Also keep in mind that CP3 is set to make something like 3 million more in his first year of his respective "Max" contract than Dwight. If the Rockets truly were pushing for this CP3 as much as Dwight, you would almost certainly be hearing Jeremy Lin's name being mentioned in trade rumours similar to what you are hearing with Robinson... and that JUST in order to sign CP3... I have no doubt they will make a pitch to CP3 on July 1st if they are waiting for Dwight's decision, but its highly unlikely hey can dream about getting both players at this stage of the game.
Well what if a SnT took place for Howard first. Lin and Asik being the main pieces. I don't think getting 2 superstars is likely at all, but I think doing a SnT with the Lakers makes a lot of sense if the Rockets are truly going for a second big fish
Yes... the Rockets have a real possibility of signing Howard. What is pie in the sky, but is interesting, is the possibility of Chris Paul. Morey considers Paul the third best player in the NBA, and would cut off his right hand to get him. It would take some serious creativity and slight pay cuts by Howard and Paul, but jettisoning Asik, Lin, Robinson and Motie and declining the options on a player or two the Rockets may be able to squeeze a both Paul and Howard with Harden.
